CBNSat Magisterial Court Hearing today

Today (15th Aug 2006) CBNSat is scheduled to have their magisterial court hearing. The two week deadline to issue the license that was ordered by the Chief Justice will end on the 17th and it looks like our authorities will be in big trouble if they try to drag this further.

Since the SLRC has also cleared CBNSat we hope that they will be given permission to go back on air. We sincerely hope that the people who were behind this closure will not try anything further, but needless to say that the CBNSat customers are ready to take action if they do try anything.

We would like to sincerely request the learned magistrate to allow CBNSat to continue operating, also would like to request the officials at the media ministry to take the plight of over 20,000 subscribers into consideration and issue the license to CBNSat.

We would like our fellow readers to post the time at which the hearing will be held today, and also to keep us updated on the result of today's hearing.

Things should turn good today if the media ministry is efficient. because they were ordered by the Supreme court to finish this off by today at the magistrates court. And according to our understanding the SLRC have also submitted their technical report to the Colombo Magistrate.

So everything is clear from the legal point of view and the Magistrate court can't go against the Supreme court order.

Now it's a matter of finalising things according to the law and hope no one can come and mess up the CJ's orders today.

As one of our friends said this is Sri Lanka ! "A LAND LIKE NO OTHER"

So let's wait and see what happens today and keep our hopes of CBN coming back on 23rd !

GOOD LUCK FOR ALL THE CBNSAT SUBSCRIBERS !!!!

Some subscribers will be there at the courts and the hearing will be at 1.30 ~ 2 p.m.

Let's hope and pray an end to this whole drama today at the magistrate court. That's what CJ have instructed. the only possibility to postpone is they can ask till 17th becuase it's the date given to them (2 weeks from 3rd)

But what's the point in dragging this for only few days ??? Only to inconvenience us the subscribers. Anyway we believe even if they drag this further they will not be able to go beyond the 23rd deadline.

DEAR FRIENDS,

ALL OF US WILL HOPE FOR THE BEST FOR CBN AND SUBSCRIBERS TODAY. AS HUSH SAID WE WILL KEEP OR FINGERS CROSSED BUT HOPE FOR THE BEST !

IF IT IS NOT SOLVED TODAY IT WILL BE BAD FOR THE JUDGE, THE LAWYERS AND THE GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AS IT SEEMS LIKE THEY ARE NOT CARING CJ OR THE SUPREME COURT. BECAUSE IF THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING THE CASE WILL BE TAKEN AGAIN IN THE SUPREME COURT.

THAT'S WHY THE SLRC, TRC AND CID GAVE THEIR REPORTS QUICKLY TO THE MAGISTRATE LAST WEEK. NOW IT'S A MATTER OF THE MEDIA MINISTRY TO ACT FAST.

WE COULD SEE THE RESULT IN FEW HOURS TIME !

In this press release of TRC they say that this extend is due to the requests of the "interested" parties. We all should know who this is ??? We will definitely find it out !!!

And if these people can't at least submit their application on time we can think of their service levels. And there should be a hidden agenda at the TRC to extend the deadline like this. This is the 2nd time that they have extended.

I think they will go on like this extending until their "interested" parties gets to apply !!!!

I feel deadlines should be met. Exteding it once might be acceptable but this is absurd !

Well well don't know what TRC is upto this time. And what a joke this is..if the so called INTRESTED PARTIES cannot apply in time don't issue any licenses to them. It seems like TRC is desperate in getting these intrested parties the licenses.

Lisura said...

TRC is really "interested" in issuing licences to these "interested parties" !
That's why they are extending the deadline. If these parties are so interested why cant they apply soon ??? Is this another plot to drag the licensing issue ????

If above post is true about ammendments then this will never end...b'cos there will be endless number of ammendments and each time it would be produced to MC then ammended again, so on.

Then how come the others operate without this licence.

Comet, Satnet, TV Lanka, Star Cable, Delta Cable, Globe vision........... No one has this new licence !!!!!!!!!

So how come they operate and CBN and LBN is shut !!!!!

hope CBN lawyers will not leave any room to delay this beyond 23rd !
