Is Dialog eying CBNsat?

Dialog Telekom has purchased Asset Media the operators of Neth FM. Please refer the below link.

TV Radio Sri Lanka Forum : Dialog Picks up Asset Media

What is very interesting to note is that Asset Media has the license for a FTA and a Pay Tv License. Also the following statement by the Dialog CEO is also interesting, "The strategic diversification into the television broadcasting allows Dialog to move into digital terrestrial broadcasting, direct to home or DTH and mobile television services, its CEO Hans Wijayasuriya said."

Can anyone confirm whether Dialog applied for the recent pay tv license. If Dialog enters the DTH industry there is no doubt that it will be a great service. The fact that CBNsat is a complete setup together with customers, equipment and content providers will no doubt prove to be an attractive investment for Dialog.

Although there is no way of getting an exact picture of the plans Dialog has for its DTH service there is no doubt that they are eying DTH. Exactly when is the question now? If they are planning to takeover CBNsat, it is best done soon.

There is no doubt that the CBNsat Customers will welcome this move, if it takes place and will continue to support the new management as they did the present management. Let's look at the bright side, it is way better than someone else taking over and it is definitely better than a takeover by SATnet or TV Lanka. These guys will get totally disintegrated from this competition.

Please keep us updated on the latest developments regarding CBNsat.

It's a great news. I think everybody like this idea and we all the service of Dialog GSM THE BEST IN THE MOBILE PHONE INDUSTRY.

Hope CBNSat would agree to sell and Dailog willing to buy.

i think this is a good move. The CBN Subscriber unite should use all its force now to push dialog to take over CBN. Instead of wasting time pushing athorities who are not even bothered about the consumers, atleast dialog will be more considerate than the fricking authorities.

Regulations crafted for Satellite TV transmissions
Updated on Monday, October 02nd 2006; 22:00 Hrs. SST (16:30 Hrs. GMT)

A new programme will be drawn up for the maintenance of satellite TV transmissions in Sri Lanka.

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission will craft new regulations. There are no provisions under the Rupavahini Corporation Act for the maintenance of satellite TV services. The government has told the Supreme Court that a set of new regulations related to such services, will be drafted under the Act. The Media Minister told the Supreme Court that they will consider issuing permits for satellite TV services, which are under suspension at present, after the enactment of the new regulations.

Is this the news that Chami TV was talking about that we never get CBNSat back?

Will it happen? The selling & buying thing

I too believe that there is little hope of CBNsat getting a licence

But i would NOT believe for one moment that they were connected with the LTTE.Failure to accquire a licence in srilanka doesnt mean its company's fault. You need to kiss ass to get one and thats how its done in SL.

No one will convince me about CBNsat's LTTE connections untill i see valid proof. And i'm sorry to say that what someone posts in a blog isnt sound proof. We've seen many posts here and very few of them have contained true facts.

So i still believe reason for CBNsat's downfall is the two cockless bastards who kissed ass to become high ups in the govt.

P.S.-- if such strong evidence proving CBNsat funding LTTE exsists, for fuck's sake arrest the CEO and charge them using counter-terrorism act. Freeze their funds and seal their HQ. (Seals were removed later. WHY REMOVE THE SEALS IF LTTE CONNECTION IS PROVEN?)
Open your eyes guys.

I fully agree with you and your argument makes a lot of sense to me. But then again right there is the problem!
If anything makes sense, it doesnt work well in this country and amongst its people. So dont waste your brain cells trying to put sense into these people. It will never work.

One would think that if real serious security threats were the reason, its a cakewalk for the judicial and the authorities to annihilate CBNSat overnight, given the laws of the country. But why has that not happened yet. Because its not true. And they dont have any real evidence. Just some cock and bull stories that were told to HE.
The real truth seems to be who's wife is sleeping with whom, and who is scared that his real wife will find out about sleeping with the other guys wife. Therefore the wife-seller has to be protected, kept happy, and his business helped out, even at the cost of 20,000 subscribers and 300 employees.

Its the juicy Lankan Soap Opera. Only difference is its a real life soap opera, and not on TV.

Lets enjoy this soap opera even without a TV.
It should be called "Spineless and the Ugly" NOT "Bold and the Beautiful"

Meth is correct. If Dialog takes CBN, that means we are heavily funding Malasia. I would like if SLT may takeover CBN. In that case funds may remain in SL. Though Dialog giving us a better service than SLT we Sri Lankans must back SLT.

will dialog enter DTH market in srilanka? or will they just use this license to enhance their newly launched 3G services?

My Dear Sanju

If all that you say is the truth, why isnt the government authorities explaining this to the people? Even if they have no complete evidence(thanks to stupid Hulla and Balla), all they have to say is the kind of thing that you just stated, and then the customers will understand. After all most of us dont want to be a part of the LTTE money making machinery, if thats where our money is going.
I still dont understand why the authorities are not making such claims. And only CBNSat defended their innocense so far with ads, Newsletter etc with proof. Furthermore, if what you say is the truth, isnt it the governments responsibility to safeguard us and provide us with an alternate solution? considering we may have all been victims of a government approved(BOI) scam?
Its time that the government take some responsibility here and look into the welfare of the 300 employees and give the CBNSat customers what they have paid for. After all CBNSat was not another shady finance company that takes people for a ride with their deposits. Whatever CBNSat had in mind, the government allowed them to do it. So we as citizens of this country have a right to hold the govnt too responsible.

RS. 13.2 billion investment my ass. Stop talking shit if you dont know true facts.

By spreading false information in this forum, you are directly supporting the unethical practices behind the closure.

And the state media will be the first to shout out loud the moment they find sound proof of CBNsat-LTTE connection. Believe me, THEY WILL BRAG about the closure and will never hide the facts and be silent about the bust as this again can be used as propaganda. It happened last time when some cable providers were busted and which were actually connected to the LTTE. There were full page articles about the bust. And dear sanju, you say that CID couldnt provide any proof coz their investgation was inturrupted by hulla and balla. If CID hadnt found any proof by the inturruption, what makes you think CID WILL EVER find any proof of such a connection? Thats a very dangerous way of thinking.

if (no evidence)
{
search (evidence)
}

This loops infinetely. Isnt this an enethical way to handle the situation?

and for rs 13.2 billion, they might hav been able to buy entire pas12 satellite, not just couple of transponders lol.

Lightning_Struck_Tower said...

dear sanju 1975,
dont take my pervious comment seriously. It was supposed to be a sarcastic post. But i damn well know CBNsat didnt invest 13.2billion on DTH operation.

And mike,
whatever you say wont change my attitude CBNsat untill the govt reveals the so called "proof" theyhave got.
Untill then im on CBNsat's side.

If ever they reveal such proof, i will be the first to smash my dish and STB as i dont want to be an arsehole who supported terrorism.

But you posting here "saying" govt has got proof wont change anything.

Looser said...

Sanju1975, Do you think this government will ever think about the employees or the citizens?

I don't think so? Yes they will think about us only after five years to get our votes.

Don't talk bullshit men.

Yes we will never get CBNSat back but don't give us false reasons for that.

Dear sanju,

PLease read my comment carefully.

""and for rs 13.2 billion, they might hav been able to buy entire pas12 satellite, not just couple of transponders lol.""

If you didnt understand the sarcasm and took the post seriously, you've got issues.

My point was that CBNsat never invested rs 13 billion on their DTH operation. Please let us know how you came up with the figure 13.2 billion. What is your source? According to my knowledge, the investment never exeeded rs 1 billion. And were you there at the court hearing?

And if you didnt know the TRO fund freeze made it to newspaper headlines. But every small article about CBNsat always mentioned some shit about licences or fashion TV.

Please answer my question. If there is a proven LTTE connection, why did the court remove seals and allow test transmission? To please the terrorists? that aint the work of a responsible govt.

And if you have time, please go throught the timeline of events. Just watch how the case postponements were made and the reasons for them. I hope you wont miss that there is something odd about the whole scenario. I've been living in sl for a long time and i know that this is not the way the govt will handle a possible LTTE connection.

And one part of what you say might be true. CBNsat may never come back. The govt will drag it on till their henchment are statisfied.

But i believe thats not coz of LTTE connection but coz of some vested interests.

Lightning_Struck_Tower said...

Sanju,

""According to a previous post they are not doing that either !!!!!""

So you are gathering your invaluable data from other posts in this forum? I gotta say thats one reliable information source :p

"If CID continued to monitor cbnsat without shutting them down for another 3-4 months definitely they could have come up with some eveidence as an unlocked decoder used to watch ntt !!!!!!!!""

and they might not have been able to prove it at all! What makes you so sure? Is it your biased way of thinking? You can search my house one whole day for a suicide bomber jacket and never find one. And you will never find one even if you search my house everyday coz i dont have one . How will you prove something exsist if there is no such thing? Imagination and guesswork are not proof.

And u say the govt wont risk the jobs of 300 people to satisfy 2 guys. Dont you know about SL? Some govts even gave arms to the LTTE. How many lives were risked then? What matters to the govt is not the amount of lives that are hit by their actions, what matters is the amount of money they gain. This is true with 90% of politicians in SL.

""So the government will need to look into some of their concerns too.""

there is a ticking sensation coming from my behind. Wait my arse is laughing
