yo this is good news. But was there a hearing today?

Alf said...

Yes. Alison is correct. CBNSat has been taken over by Dialog GSM. His Excellency has refused to give permission to operate under the present management so they have sold it to Dialog GSM.

Anyway, that was the only way out from this mess...and wish it happened earlier but the Management did'nt understand this till now.

It's all good but i feel sorry for the management that they lost their grip on CBNsat. Dialog is a capable company. It wont be easy for hulla to manipulate them.

Let's see how dialog operates CBnsat. I hope they will add more channels and hope they will not raise package rates. I will be using DishTv now that i bought it and coz it currently has more channels than CBNsat. If CBnsat gives better packages than DishTV, i'll simply turn the dish around and switch to it.

Go CBNsat!

Latest from a CBNSat Rep

Quote_"Since they have been shut down for 6 months, they have to activate the channels one at a time. The engineers are servicing the uplinking equipment. Within two days from now a few channels will be available to view. In one weeks time, all the channels will be available."-Unquote

Lets keep our fingers crossed that everything will go smoothly.

In the meantime, lets keep guessing which channel will be the first.

My Guess is Fashion TV!!! (since its FTA)....LOL.....

kalu is right to some extent and you should not blast Mr.Muhunthan as he did everythinhg possible to get CBNsat back on track and their was nothing wrong in what he did,He is the person single handedly responsible for bringing DTH to sri lanka and the ultimate sucess.

So it is not very good for ALF to find falt with him for no reson,It must be pure jelousy because he has already invested on dish tv connection and earning thousands from selling to others.

But dont compare that maniac Kothalawala with ALF and he is not that bad,Kothalawala is a traitor who is trying to destroy this country and he is the most foolish arshole in this country.

Hi Kalu

I am here because i have the freedom of expression. And mind ou i have NOT blasted anyone and mere congrat CBNSat for atleast realising the reality now.

Yeah, you can call me anything(freedom of expression)..cos you were the one who was holding the lamp for Mr.K right?? And you know who Mr.K did it with?? Its with your mother!! Thats why you have this thing of always writing against me. And did u ever wonder why your name start with "K"??

You seems to be a toddler who can't even understand the my simple posting.

Jesica,
I think Dialog has all the licenses the TRC can issue. They recently took Asset media which is said to have a paytv licence and they have a subsidiary called Dialog broadband which even has a license to deploy a CDMA network.

About media licence, i don't know whether they have it or not. But this time around surely hulla or balla wont be able to fuck around with CBNsat as they please.

ALF KOTHALAWALA - NOW YOU ARE TALKING,NO ALF KOTHALAWALA DID IT ALL AT YOUR OWN HOUSE AND UNTERSTANDABLY HER HUSBAND WAS NOT THEIR,MR.K DIDNT WANT THE LIGHTS ON AND THE PATRIOT FARTHER GOT ONE HIS EYES INJURED BY HIS FRIENDS THE FREEDOM FIGHTERS,SO IT HAPPENED IN THE DARK,AND SO IT DOESNT MATTER AS YOUR FACE JUST LOOKS LIKE THE FOOLISH KOTHALAWALA.

SonicNet granted permission to commence operation

By S.S.Selvanayagam

The Supreme Court yesterday (27) granted interim relief to SonicNet Technologies (Pvt) Ltd permitting it to recommence the operation of its Communiq Broadband Network (CBN Sat) transmission with immediate effect.

The Bench comprising Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva and Justices N. G. Amaratunga and Saleem Marsoof also granted the petitioner company SonicNet Technologies leave to proceed with the fundamental rights application for the alleged infringements of its fundamental right to equality and equal protection of the law.

The matter came up on a motion filed pursuant to the proceedings of November 6. Having considered the submission of the petitioner, court made order permitting the petitioner to negotiate a sale of the equipment and facilities to another service provider.

This order specifically stated that the negotiations could be entered into by the petitioner on the basis that the order sealing the equipment would be vacated, when negotiations are finalised.

President’s Counsel Romesh de Silva appearing for the petitioner submitted that the negotiations are now being finalised and the petitioner could sell the facility to the subsidiary of Dialog Telekom Ltd. Asset Media (Pvt) Ltd wholly subsidiary of the Dialog Telekom Ltd would purchase the shares of Communiq Broadband Network.

Counsel Romesh de Silva further submitted that Asset Media has already got licence under Section 28 of the Rupavahini Corporation Act (Media licence) permitting it to broadcast and that the Dialog Telekom has a licence under and in terms of Section 17 of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission.

He submitted that pursuant to the sale agreement with the petitioner, Dialog and /or its subsidiary would be permitted to carry on the broadcast that were carried on by the petitioner prior to the seal.

He also submitted that the petitioner company has imported equipment which have not been cleared and is kept in the port premises and that since the TRC has not granted the clearance pending these proceedings, appropriate steps be taken by the TRC to ensure that the petitioner could clear his equipments.

Court accordingly granted the petitioner interim relief pleaded in the petition (d). Petitioner was permitted to recommence the service that were provided prior to the seizure and there will be no obstruction to the petitioner and / or Communiq Broadband being all companies owned by the same share-holders from carrying on the transmission that was done prior to the seizure. Since there is a possibility of resolving the matter, no date for objection for hearing is granted. The matter was listed to be mentioned on January 16.

The petitioner cited Chief Inspector U.K. Mahindadasa, Superintendent of Police A.R.Vaidyalankara and Sub Inspector L.Tilak Bandara all of Police Commercial Crime Unit –II the IGP, The TRC and the Attorney General as respondents.

President’s Counsel Romesh de Silva with Sugath Caldera, Riad Ameen and Evaj de Silva instructed by G. G. Arulpragasam appeared for the petitioner. Additional Solicitor General Sathya Hettige with Senior State Counsel Sumathi Dharmawardana appeared for 1st to 5th respondents and the Attorney General. President’s Counsel D. S. Wijesinghe appeared for the intervenient petitioner the Minister of Mass Media and Information. President’s Counsel Palitha Kumarasinghe appeared for the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission. Sanjeewa Jayawardane with Rajeev Amarasuriya appeared for the Dialog Telekom.
