From last night it looks like CBNsat has activated part of the EPG (Electronic Program Guide) on HBO and Cinemax. When we say part of the EPG what we mean is that this only shows the current program and the next program. The actual full EPG will contain a list of programs on the channel from 4 days to One week in advance.
We hope that CBNsat will deploy a fully functional EPG on all channels soon since most of these channels decide on their lineup of programs in advance of one month to one week before a month begins.

But on the CBNSat decoder software its EPG only supports "NOW" & "NEXT".
Right ?
Will they need to upgrade the software? or can change from their side?
CBN did start the instalation...still i didn't get my equipment...

Those channels are working properly try to call them or email to CBNSat Subscriber Unit about your problem cbnsat@gmail.com
Yes hush they should include synopses on EPG.
It’s very interesting to need note that customers have to depend on the cbn subscribers unit to get information. The customers have signed the contract with the company not with the subscribers unit. If YOU FIND difficult to get through cbn. Please call

GET THE INFORMATION FROM DIALOG MANAGEMENT.
dialog - WHATS YOUR POINT? ITS NO USE CALLING THE DIALOG CUSTOMER CARE,THE TWO ARE TOTALY DIFFERANT OPERATIONS AND DONT MISLEAD THE SUBSCRIBERS.

Quick question on FAV Channels
I created a favorites list with about 10 of my favorite channels. And when I use the FAV button I can easily access them, which is cool. However, by creating a FAV list, I cant access the other channels, if I want to. Does anyone know how to do this? AT the moment I got rid of the FAV list. But it would be nice to have my FAV list and then also have easy access to the remaining channels when I need them from time to time.
Any suggestions/recommendations?
I am aware of the FAV 1 thru 4, but I would only like to use one FAV list.
Cableguy,
Once you create a favourite list, only those selected channels will be available for you. Create another favourite list for other channels. By the way if you press OK button on your remote, the decoder stop using the FAV lists and use the original listing. My suggetion is to create one FAV list and put all the channels into that and order them according to your preference.
Hello!
There seems to be a problem in the new blogger with Word Verification.
We have already emailed them and awaiting a reply.
We could remove Word Verification but then we will be swamped with a lot of spam comments so please bear with us.
Hope all of you heard about the death of the Admin of "Lanka Media Outlook"

dialog- You think dialog is running CBNsat from their office,No way man and nothing will happen if you call the numbers you have given. They are the helpline for dialog phones. There is a separate customercare for CBNsat (4606060),whether you can get throught to that is another story, and its your baby whether you want to contact the Subscriber unite or not and the subscribers themselves will decide whether they wont or not.
And basically you are not Dr,Hans Wijesuriya or Nushad Perera to change the helplines,You are just a petty arshole trying to "FART AGAINST THUNDER"
Hey bank_dude and the other Cable Guy
Thanks very much for the info. Didnt know that by pressing OK button I could go back to the full list. As you guys suggested, I can also use the EPG button. This is exactly the solution I was looking for. Thanks again.
You guys just saved me 20 minutes of holding for a CBNSat rep.
This Blog rocks!!!
There was something on the blog regarding audio problems(Receiving audio in hindi) and that Sri Lanka was getting the indian feed as opposed to the east asian feed, does anyone know if this has been sorted out?
Im fully agree with Manil, Who is this Dialog fellow. That idiot is trying to spoil the sprit of the great bloggers of this forum!!
hi
cable guy
how do you create a favourite list, i all ready have one but i dont know how to add or remove channels from the list
dee.panadura,
Restore factory defaults and do a manual scan. It will solve your problem. Once you do that you have to change the time again because factory defaults has GMT+6.00 time.
Why don't CBN get this detail and add to EPG?
We cannot log on to Internet everytime to check what is next. They should EPG to all channels as they increase the rentals.
Anyway Thanks for help Cable Guy thats the only option for us.
Is it possible CBNSAT to upgrade our packages without our permission? Is it legal?
I need to keep my 2nd package without upgrading to new one.
I baught CBN because their 2nd package is fair
Plese give your openion
Hi Jesika - hv you been asked to upgrade now? IMO they will ask us to re-align to new package structure at a future point, not now.
Anyways, here's the link to POGO schedule - only bad thing is they hv shifted "Just for Laughs - Gags" to a later slot in the night :D
http://www.pogo.tv/jsp/schedule/index.jsp
Jesika,
I'm sure they will not upgrade our packages. What they will do is they may introduce new channels and they will enable those channels to new packages. People like us may have to change to new package in order to get those channels. Dialog did that when they introduce CLI. We had to pay extra 50/= to have that. Still they are charging that and they say they cannot change it because of the package we have. I'm sure they will follow the same procedure for CBN as well.
cableguy
actually the favourite list was created by my brother and the guy doesnt remember how he did it.
Any developments in CBNSAT?
Dear Admin
can you please start a blog to share technical issues?
I think it will help everyone to share their knowledge
mean time I like to know what is the different between DVD+R & DVD-R ?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD-R
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD+R
Comparison: http://www.cdfreaks.com/reviews/Why-DVDRW-is-superior-to-DVD-RW.html
Thanks Radikal Zee for your information.
But its full of technical therms so i couldn't understand much.
can someone explain it in a typical basic way?
what is good, what is bad ....
DVD-R and DVD-RW
DVD-R was the first DVD recording format released that was compatible with standalone DVD Players.
DVD-R is a non-rewriteable format and it is compatible with about 93% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.
DVD-RW is a rewriteable format and it is compatible with about 80% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.
DVD-R and DVD-RW supports single side 4.37 computer GB* DVDs(called DVD-5) and double sided 8.75 computer GB* DVDs(called DVD-10).
These formats are supported by DVDForum.
DVD+R and DVD+RW
DVD+R is a non-rewritable format and it is compatible with about 89% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.
DVD+RW is a rewritable format and is compatible with about 79% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.
DVD+R and DVD+RW supports single side 4.37 computer GB* DVDs(called DVD-5) and double side 8.75 computer GB* DVDs(called DVD-10).
These formats are supported by the DVD+RW Alliance.
##Above was quoted from http://www.videohelp.com/dvd ##
With less technical bullshit:
DVD-R has slight lead in compatibility. (Older DVD players support -R format since +R was introduced in 2002 in contrast to -R which was introduced on 1997)
DVD+R disks are more accurate at higer speeds (less prone to interference).
DVD+R has better error management making the accuracy level less dependant on quality of media.
DVD+R disks have less chance of being unusable due to burn errors.
Thanks LST
It seems DVD+RW is the best
