Interruption due to maintenance

We have received information that CBNsat will be interrupting their test transmission for system maintenance today (12th Dec 06) from 10AM to 6PM.

We are not sure what is the type of maintenance that they are carrying out. They be trying to sort out some of the transmission problems that they are having at the moment or they may activating the second transponder. They may also be planning to up link some of the other channels that they had prior to the shutdown.

If any of you have further information regarding this maintenance we welcome you to update this blog with the information.

Hi Guys, does anyone know if dialog has any association with MBC Network (Sirasa and MTV) ? I thought earlier they had some association when the holding company name of dialog was MTN Networks..

Lisura

I tried the audio button on the CBNSat remote while watching a Nickalodian program that was dubbed in hindi. Nothing happened. Have you actually been able to switch between English and HIndi before CBNSat closed using the audio button?

Anonymous said...

crab,
When dialog launched in 1995, it was a joint venture between Maharaja and Telekom Malaysia. But since the two companies didnt share the same vision about Dialog's future, Telekom Malaysia bought the rest of shares from Maharaja and made it their wholly owned subsidiary.I dont think there is any connection between them now.

cableguy,
Some programms on Nick India are only dubbed in Hindi. You cannot change the feed. Although Dishtv indicated that it contained multiple feeds, for one cartoon on nick (Ninja something) i could hear hindi in the English feed. It's not a problem with cbnsat.

hush said...

crab!

Yeah maharaja group had some investments in dialog but was sold off to telecome malaysia the owning company and afterwards dialog also brought their microwave link division who owns quite a number of towers across sri lanka and acted as links between points and once dialog took it over it was renamed dialog broadband. This was done to facilitate CDMA services and to dialog to go for 4play in telecommunications. Another reason why CBNsat was accuired was to give media content in the 4 Play qualification.4 play been mobile, fixed,DTH,DTB.

DTB is left maybe they will launch it through asset media as a new station or may accuire a company like comet.not sure about comet as their technology is outdated.

cableguy,

If you have the CBNSat user manual it explains what functions (buttons) are currently functioning in the remote.

cableguy said...

Thanks guys. Will check out the user manual for the functions. I am one off those lazy buggers who never read manuals. Instead I try to fiddle with it and figure things out. I guess it helps to read the manual once in a while.

The audio button on the remote control unit is useful only when they broadcast two languages in two audio channels (left and right)

using the remote control you can either select left or right channel, according to your preference. When they broadcast same language in both channels or when only left or right channel is available, this method doesn't work.

bank_dude said...

Hope they activate transponder 2 and other channels too

Crab said...

Thanks LST and hush for the clarifications. The reason why I asked that question was, just in case if MBC has any ties with Dialog it will have some impact on the local content that we might get. I meant channells like Swarnavahini, Rupavahini and Eye might not be available on CBN due to rivalry.

Anyways Channel 58 MTV on CBNSat would be a good idea !!

cableguy said...

And ETV and ARTV too.
It is something nice and something to be proud of having our good local channels too on the lineup along with other world class channels.

yakuza said...

guys is cbn working now.
will they resume full transmission after this maintainance

topfan said...

Still red.Well they didnt stop transmission when they add Hbo cinemax etc.Hope this is something big.

kaluperuma said...

No-They are doing a software upgrade and all the issues you had with sound, picture etc will be sorted out and channels will be added automaticaly when activated at their end.

The software upgrade will last untill late evening today.

Anonymous said...

Thanks kaluperuma for ur information

what do u mean by "all the issues you had with sound" ? will they give muli audio channels?

kaluperuma said...

Not that Jesika ,You had things like where the balance was out and where there was no sound kind of issues, and things relating to the clarity of the picture etc,Basicaly with this upgrade it will be almost back to the quality transmission we had prior to the closure.

Multi Audio will be added in the future and CBNsat will defeneitly concentrate only on the English language feed,The past occurance during the football match was a one off case during the test transmission and that will not happen when the transmission is back to normel.

cableguy said...

See how spoilt we are!!!
By hook or by crook we got thru 6 months of no service.
When they stop transmission for 8-10 hours for service, we get impatient and jittery.

Its true. Cable TV is like cannibalism. Once you taste it, there is no turning back.

Guys say,If there is a problem in addind new channels due to space constraints in the transponders,What are the realy unessary channels in the exsisting lineup,I think we should drop,

Raj TV
Zoom
Set
Goal TV 1 & 2

Give this a serious thought?Because the Entire zee package may have to be accomadated

bank_dude said...

bank_dude said...

Kalu, dropping Zoom, Set, Goal 1 & 2 is ok. But you will not be able to concentrate on tamil subscibers if you drop Raj from your lineup. I'm sure it will affect your tamil speaking suscriber base. Machan is there a possibility of dropping current MTV & VH1 indian feeds and move on to MTV & VH1 asia feeds. I'm sure most of us wanted that bacuase most of us are not hindi fans.

Crab said...

I think you could drop MTV India as well. Unless you are a die hard fan of Hindi songs no one would want to watch that. MTV Europe or US is of much value than that.

kaluperuma said...

bank_dude,I think a majority of Tamil subscribers are interested in Sun TV,You are correct in saying that it will effect a certain market segmant. But if it comes to a situation such as dropping something,What realy should we drop

Crab said...

VH1 is very good in my opinion. Although its the indian feed its 100% English as I know. They dont broadcast hindi songs as well. VH1 is known as the only 100% English music channell in india.

topfan said...

bank-dude

I fear that getting non indian feeds has a legal issue rather than their high price. If so ware forced to have the indian feed.It is clear that indians obtaining rigts to cover sri lanka is very unethical but some times it might be the case.Even multinational companies like rekkit benkisher and Uniliver operate in sri lanka through indian branches. We are very unluckey to be near india

Crab said...

topfan , what do you mean "If so ware forced to have the indian feed"..? then how do we see HBO,SignatureCinex which is a non indian feed ?

cableguy said...

Kaluperuma

I fully agree with your suggested list, except as bank-dude says, Raj TV may have to be kept for marketing to a different clientale. Maybe we can get rid of one of the Raj channels as a compromise.

Also what about Animax? I am not sure how many people actually watch that channel. Is it a free offer with AXN? Can they drop it to accommodate better channels?

Lightning_Struck_Tower said...

kaluperuma,
by 'entire zee package' do you mean cbnsat will be adding all 32 channels zee network owns? Zee has crap channels such as Zee kannada, zee malayalam, zee gujarati, etc. I get these on dishtv and gotta say these are worthless.

The only worthwhile channels of zee package are zee cafe, zee sports, zee studio, zee cinema (if u like hindi that is) , zee music and maybe zee trendz.

Zoom, set and goaltv are better than creap channels on zee package. So i hope only the worthwhile channels will make it to cbnsat (rightly so) as they have channel capacity problems?

hush said...

goal 1 ,Goal 2, Zoom does not have much of a following. Raj maybe needed for the tamil community and set to add variety as their line up is ok.

kaluperuma said...

LST - Its about 15 channels which they have got Zee Sports, studio, cafe, trendz are defeneitly their but i am unware whether they have chopped any from the 15 after the take over.

I think most of the tamil subscribers want Sun TV,Because i am aware that some of my Tamil friends didnt buy connections because Sun TV was not available.

LST - is correct as a majority of the channels available with ZEE are indian crap.

I think they can contract with something better by dropping GOAL as it is expensive and doesnt cover any quality football,Since its expensive,I hear that even in
Dish TV you have to pay extra to have it in your package.

Lightning_Struck_Tower said...

Yes Kaluperuma Goaltv 1 and 2 are not available in the Dish Maxi package. You have to pay seperately to get those. Like you said it means cbnsat can add another package (at least a smaller one such as Nimbus's Neo Sports) if they get rid of goal 1 and 2 without having to increase rental.

kaluperuma said...

LST - I think NEO sports is the most popular sports channel in India,Does Dish TV have NEO or only TATASKY has it?

cableguy said...

Can Goal TV be replaced with other sports channels that have mostly rugby?
I dont even know if such channels exist. But Goal TV is a piece of crap, even for soccer lovers.

Lisura said...

Dear Friends,

Please send the channels you do not like to cbnsat@gmail.com

I would like to note that Sun TV and Sun NEWS is available FREE on NSS 6. And if you are a real hindi music fan Zee Music and MH1 is also free on NSS 6 satellite.
There are good channels like DW-TV and Headlines Today channels also on NSS 6 Free-to-air !

I think CBNSat should concentrate on adding more premium content than just increasing the no of channels. Indian market is vast and their taste has a huge difference in between the provinces too. That's why I think Dish TV India has over 160 channels. Basically to cater to a wider audience.

In Sri Lankan scenario we generally have a common taste except for very few people. So CBNSat shold stick to cater to that taste rather than just increasing the no. of channels.

For that if they need they can do a survey and even drop some channels. We have already passed on the details we have collected from the subscribers. So if you feel that certain channels need to be dropped please email us at cbnsat@gmail.com

Lightning_Struck_Tower said...

kalu,
Neo sports (from WAG Nimbus) is not available on Dishtv. It's only available in Tatasky. WIth ESPN and STAR grabbing rights for ICC events from 2007 to 2015, there is a good chance Neo showing events other than cricket. Maybe rugby too.

Website update needed

It's good if CBNSat can update the website regarding important notices such as system shutdown for maintainence etc. Also, website must update us with more news such as when normal service will resume. Else, we have to call CBN often.

CBN users can connect the decoder audio output to a Hi-Fi or home theatre system: friends, you can expereicne fantastic sound effects. Sometimes, the audio quality is more fun than the movie or documentary itself.

Small speakers (bookshelf speakers) may be kept at ear level or below at equal distance from where you are seated. They should not be too far from your seat as we dont want to disturb others.

Happy viewing.

hush said...

guys the optical cable is expensive cause it comes for home theatre systems and is available at swedish audio visual but is not cheap.

Yeah there is a drop in signal quality. I used to get 75% signal and quality at 55% most of the time but as of late it is 75% signal and 50% quality in mornings and eveings but is best around 2pm at 75% and quality at 55% but in the night especially after 11pm it drops to signal of 74% and quality 49%.

Sat Viewer said...

Yes I too bought two Optical Cables, one is Rs. 400 and the other is Rs. 300. (length 1.5m & 1m)

You can buy these at any electronic shop in First cross street (Pettah).

There is no quality difference in these cables as they have no resistancy.

kaluperuma said...

Thats right Sat-viewer,You guys dont ever go to Nastas,They are bullshit and keep over 100% margin in what they sell,All these sattelite gadjets are availabale at most of the electronic shops at first cross street.

Sat_viewer is absolutely correct in this point

Sat Viewer said...

Still CBN Sat doesn't telecast sound tracks in multichannel format.

But if you have a Digital amplifier with Dolby Prologic II (PLII) decoding, you can enjoy 6 channel audio by connecting your CBN receiver to the amplifier. If you use an optical cable you enjoy very high quality audio.

All the channels which has an stereo soundtrack in CBN are encoded with Dolby prologic II.

So if you have an amplifier with PLII, you can enjoy the descrete multi-channel audio almost similar to a DVD.

Anonymous said...

sorry i dont have good knowladge with those amps. this is not regarding CBNsat, But
Plese help me to these

In a normal movie DVD there are 2 sound types 5.1 & DTS

is DTS also support 5.1 speakers or is it virtual 5.1 effect with 2 speakers?

My LG DVD player only have 2 sound output lines ( no amp inbuilt) & optical out.so i think it only support DTS
so what type of a amp i need to get full sound effect of the DVDs

Thanks

Sat Viewer said...

Jesika

DTS is normally has 5.1 channel output. In some cases it comes in 6.1 too. 5.1 means 5 speakers and 1 low frequency speaker (subwoofer).

in 6.1 systems, 6 speakers and a subwoofer.

If the DVD says it has only 5.1 it means dolby digital. In dolby digital it's the same speaker asigning as DTS, but DTS always have better quality over dolby digital.

Donot use virtual surround sound unless you have a perfect listening room. Always use a six speaker system.

If your DVD palyer has an optical output or a coaxial output you can connect it to a digital amplifier using one of those cables. optical/coaxial outputs support all the audio formats in the world(Dolby digital/DTS 5.1 & 6.1, STEREO etc).

Optical and coaxial cables have the same audio quality.

So Jesica you can enjoy multichannel audio, if you buy a digital amplifier which supports all audio formats.

Hope this naswers your question.

kula said...

Dolby prologic II

http://www.dolby.com/consumer/technology/prologic_II.html

Anonymous said...

Thanks Sat Viewer
I appreciate your help very much

I got the answer.
that means

dvd players comes with 5.1 out is Dolby digital.
Optical line gives DTS
white & red out gives only Streeo

am i right ?

Sat Viewer said...

You are almost correct.

Here is a summary of my previous note.

An Optical or a Coaxial Output can support all the formats (Dolby digital, DTS & Stereo etc.)

If your palyer has either Optical or Coaxial output and if you have a Digital Audio Amplifier (AV receiver) connected to your DVD player you can enjoy multichannel audio.

5.1 Can either be in Dolby Digital format or DTS format.

Red and White cables are for analog stereo outputs.

If you have an amplifier with 'Dolby Prologic II' decoding facility, you can enjoy multichannel audio even from a Dolby encoded Stereo source. (in this case the surround effects are around 60-70% accurate)

Anonymous said...

Kalu
I checked your link too.
Thanks

But it says,
Dolby® Pro Logic® II technology processes any high quality stereo (two-channel) movie and music audio into five playback channels of full-bandwidth surround sound.

that means it uses only stereo input & gives 5 channel output.
that means we dont need optical out, we can get 5 channel output through our DVD players stereo out?

pls explain

hush said...

DTS and Dolby are both sound systems that can be enjoyed in a home theatre environment. To get the best the DVD should be equipped with coxial jacks that break this sound into six channels, left speaker, right speaker, centre speaker, sub woofer, rear left speaker, rear right speaker.Thease should be connected to a dolby prologic system amp. In DTS you need a optical out in DVD and a Optical in in amp and six similar channel output on amps connecting the speakers and should get a sound diagnostic CD which will guide you to place the speakers as per your room as obviously the speakers and amp is designed for a perfect listening room and our houses are not so.Thus you would have to make adjustment through controls in amp and placement of speakers.

This CD is available freely in europe but not sure about in SL.

DTS optical cable will lessen the number of wires connecting DVD to amp but the rest from amp to speakers will be coxial.

similary colour is split in to three and there should be three input jacks in the TV or you can use S-video connector to get the best in picture.

In DVD also there is option of choosing the channels for 2,5.1 or DTS and should be set in the menu along with video setting for type of film such as cinema, cartoon, standard, sports. I am not sure whether every DVD carry this option but most advanced players do.

hope this will be helpful.

hush said...

jesika,

besides my expalnation above there is a option in some advanced amp called AC3 sound system which utilise a 2 channel input to give the effect of 5.1 dolby as there is 6 channel output from amp.

Sat Viewer said...

To make the things very simple, if you connect your audio source to a digital amplifier through an Optical or a Coaxial cable (you need only one type of cable) you can listen to all audio formats output from DVD Player/Satellite decoder or CD player.

All digital amplifiers comes with built in audio channel test sounds, so anyboby can easily set it up.

You can find thousands of helpful websites if you search in google, but some are too technical for a beginner to understand.

hush said...

sat viewer!

agreed to simple terms and also that the individual test sounds on amp is to test the speaker for sound and balance but with a diagnostic sound CD, you can get close to the level of surround sound that the designers of such equipments intended their buyers to enjoy and exact placement of speakers and where exactly your seat should be placed and eliminating any interference and sound generated by operation of equipment.

Anonymous said...

It means if we have Dolby Prologic II supported amp can we have 5.1 effect by stereo out without using optical out?

for example cbnsat decoder have stereo out and optical out.

Anonymous said...

this amp is at singermega for around 40k
http://www.yamaha.co.jp/english/product/av/products/ht/yht175.html

is it ok for that work?

Sat Viewer said...

Hush

That CD is really good. But to really get use of that cd one's ears must be very well trained. Thanks for your valuable idea.

Jesica

Yes CBN currently broadcasts only in Stereo (PL II compatible). If you use a optical cable you can enjoy Prologic II currently and when CBN gives us DTS later, you don't have to change anything.
Your amp will automatically detect the DTS signal through the optical cable and give you 5.1 surround sound.

That amplifier is really good. I too own the same thing. It supprts everything. Excellent sound quality too.

hush said...

jesika,
please check in the manual of the amp whether it has the AC3 facility.

seperate button either on back of amp or in the remote should be present to switch between 5.1 input source and 2 channel input. out put will be 6 channels in any dolby 5.1 prologic system.

without AC3 the effects of 5.1 cannot be achieved with 2 channels input only.

hush said...

sat viewer is correct! DTS with optical cable will work but to get the same experience or close to same experince AC3 is needed as CBN broadcast only stereo in the present set up.

Anonymous said...

it has
Dolby Pro Logic II decoding
so cant we get 5.1 effect from stereo out?

Sat Viewer said...

Jesika

You can get 5.1 effect with that Yamaha amplifier. Dolby Prologic II (PLII) is another name for AC3.

Both are one and the same.

I am using this aplifier. It supprots all.

Sat Viewer said...

And Jesica Prologic II and AC3 are not 100% good as DTS.

It's an alternative only. This method is used to store surround sound where only two channels are available (Eg. in ordinary tv channels and FM channels) In Prologic II the surround sound tracks are encoded in left and right channels. The amplifier decodes them. Then you get the surround sound.

Looser said...

Post some observations about the CBNSat test transmission. Like Channel quality, Signal strength and quality and whatever observations you have. It will be useful for the CBNSat engineering team to correct them before going live in full swing. Your comments matter a lot.

So rather than wasting time on other matters here I suggest you post matters relating to CBNSat test transmission.

You can send your comments and suggesstions to cbnsat@gmail.com
too.............

Asset Media was planning to start Neth TV next yesr. And after it was taken over by Dialog they were planning to start Dialog TV in April 2007.

There is a reasonable doubt that CBNSat will change its' name to Dialog TV. Like MTT Changed it's name to Dialog Broadband. Because now CBNSat is a fully owned subsidary of Dialog Telekom. For fourplay (Mobile, Fixed, Broadband, TV) they have to come under one brand name !

We'll have to wait and see !!!!

Sat Viewer said...

Sorry guys.. Just tried to help somebody wh need technical assistance.

The picture quality on Cinemax after restarting the transmission is a little lower than earlier.

you can see some pixelised images specially on darker scenes. This problem was not there when they resumed transmission recently.

But I think it's always better to wait till tey come to full operation as I think what we see now can be improved.

I'm sure some of our bloggers who are close with CBN people can help us on this.

Rob said...

Lisura,

Find the discussion about 'sound' very interesting and also I have gained a good knowledge thanks to Satviewer, Hush and Kula. My personal opinion is to let them carry on with the topic as I feel sound is very much related to CBNSAT. I have seen this fiber optic connection on the decoder before, but never used it.
Meantime others can keep the blog updated about signal quality and other improvements etc.

There are few blackout stages of few seconds in reality TV channel and this was especially so yesterday and happens more evident after 10pm.

channel 9 which ran MTV India is running a test channel now and no sound on that channel.

while the blackout was happening in reality TV other channels were functioning without issue especially BBC,ESPN,Star sports have no problems at all.

AXN is more smooth now and better clarity. Derana quality is good but TNL has a washed out effect and not so sharp in the picture.

Have noticed that there is a significant drop in sound in history channel over others even though sound setting is same both on decoder and TV.

Does anybody know who has applied for new licenses? There is a rumor that a close pal of President has applied for a Broad Band License (Cable/Satellite). That may be the reason why they initially tried to delay the resumption of services even after Dialog took over CBN!!!! Interestingly they are still holding on to LBN license!

I have seen some interesting news about SLT Cable TV & Comet Cable on Lanka Media Outlook

You are correct. Prologic II decoding even work with analog stereo sources.

But if you use a digital audio cable (optical or coaxial) the sound quality will be noticeably higher and when CBN broadcasts it's audio in DTS you don't have to change cables.

cbnsatcustomer said...

SECAM

Sat Viewer said...

Yes cbnsatcustomer the difference btween composite (video) out and s-video is very slight. It's a little difficult to pick it.

I too agree the main weakness in CBN decorder is not having a component video output.

chami_tv said...

The TV Modes you have mentioned are some broadcasting standards governing regionas of the world. For an Example Sri Lanka use PAL_B TV broadcasting style and the TV sets which we import must be of these standards in order to view TV broadcasts in our region. But today most of the TV sets are multi systems thus can switch in to the broadcasting standards manually or if we put to Auto mode it will do so automatically.

Visit the following for info about letterbox and should find more on above too…

It looks like my comments on CBN Sat audio, on Tuesday, has created a lot of interest. That's great!

I have used an audio cable (cable with red and white stereo jacks, which came with my Hi-Fi system) to connect the audio output from the CBN decoder to AUX input in my Hi-Fi system. It will work for a home theatre system too.

Even without using hi-tech pro-logic audio system, this simple system gives a fantastic sound effect. The problem with most sound systems is that, they can’t output quality sound as the sound source from a CD or Radio is inferior. However, CBN sound quality is fantastic, though video quality can be improved much more.

Sat Viewer said...

Kuluperuma

is there any huge technical issue behind this delay? If CBN gave all the channels without any issue prior to shutdown, what makes them take so long to go in to full service?

kaluperuma said...

Nothing that serious where they cant sort out,But you can imagine the impact of not using something for six months,Further you have to renew and look at some of the channel partners and once you activate the transponder, that is a huge cost.

So more than technical it is more les putting everything in order.

Dont worry all the other channels will be back before year end.

hush said...

trackzerobad!

I guess chami TV answered your question but I would like to add something.

The TV mode auto , Panscan ,letterbox. This is for home theatre system TV .Those TV come in the 70MM movie style 16:9 format. Every human eye see 35degree thus both combined 70.Normal TV is 4:3 format or letter box format. Eye can grab the whole picture without straining and movement if it is 16:9. In the decoder you can choose 16:9 format or auto format if its a wide Screen theatre system TV. Panscan is also used in 16:9 format theatre TV to get a Zoom effect. when you watch a 70MM format movies there are no 2 black areas in the top and bottom due to this but in normal TV you get this black area. If its a normal TV please choose letterbox.

I have noticed in TV mode the SECAM color system gives the best colour and clarity, next comes NTSC. In order to choose this secam mode you need a muti system TV otherwise you will get either a grey picture or sound interference.

hush,

Thanx for the info..

I am using a MultiSystem TV (JVC 29" True Flat)

I think it want be a problem to switch to those TV Modes..

What do you suggest to use .. ??? In which format of those CBN do their broadcast ?

Trackzerobad!

Yes TV mode for system should not be a issue if you have a muti system TV.

But please check whether TV is 16:9 format.easy to do without the manual is to see the width of screen should be wider the height. e.g. width divide by height should be 1.77 will mean 16:9 but if you get 1.33 that is a normal TV.

I have 16:9 and the option of 16:9 functions on the decoder thus CBN does for all formats but it is really on content providers format.have noticed on AXN that some of their programmes are in 16:9. most new movies are in the 16:9 format.

good thing in 16:9 format TV is ,you can even watch normal TV as TV automatically extend the picture of 35MM or 4:3 format and unless you are used to it the people look a bit fat than a normal.visual perception that one will get used to in switching from the 4:3 to 16:9 TV. All HD broadcast opverseas is 16:9.

Yes hush... This three coloured video cable system is called 'component Video' in/out.

This is the best quality video in/outs. If your systen supports, always use them with your DVD/cable TV. Unfortunately CBN Decoder doesn't have this type.

You can buy these cables (three joint cables with correct clours for each jack) from any shop at Main street - Pettah for about Rs. 250/-.

I went through the CBN's channel list shown in lyngsat.com and checked on other providers offering them.I found out that CBN is one of the only three SAT DTH operators in south asia.Since south asia is the second most populate area of the world(roughly 1/6 worlds population)CBN has a potential to be a mjor TV service provider in the area. Some quality content CBN already have dont seems to be listed with other two(namely DishTV and TATASky).Perhaps if CBN was here in past six months we would have been proud subscribers of second best(or perhaps best but TATASky seems to be a much ADVANCED opponent) operator in the region. This is a great privilage to our country(but after Mr.Chanagey i dont know what percentage of CBN is actually Sri Lankan) but it was messed up by people who have sworn for its bright future(damn).

Dear CBN you still can be the best.Remeber that the Quality, not the Quantity, that actually matters.

It's nice to know that we have a bunch of people who are really interested in Video and sound quality.

We can always moniter the transmissions on CBNSat and inform them when there is a quality drop.

I have been a very fuzzy subscriber, and I made lot of complains to CBNSat alone, but i'm sure now we can get together and demand for the best quality audio and video, once the service is running completely.

As you know guys unless we demand, we won't get what we want.

Kalu, when CBN planning to give us Discovery and Animel planet channels? There are two vacant channels in TP1 isn't it.

kaluperuma said...

Those two will be defeneitly back buy xmas,The thing is the agreements have to be renegotiated and signed in some instances and they are working round the clock on them.

Its the procedures such as setting up of new agreements and things that are delaying the relaunch and they are also looking at dropping some channels and getting ones far better than that on air prior to going on full swing.

Still on History Channel only one sound signal is working that is why some say that the volume on history channel is lower than the others. To compensate for it I select the "Left" Sound signal since "Right" is not working. Then the volume improves. However CBN should look into this.

The picture quality in certain channels is lower than it was before the shutdown so I hope that this improves soon too.

2nd transponder is working now.zee package is there.but still doesn't work. plz re scan your decoder

Anonymous said...

Yeah..Transponder 2 is active now. A bunch of Zee channels are there. But not working yet. No POGO & GOAL TV. but ZOOM is there. New DH & D are seeing. I don't know what are they? May be Some Disney channels. Any way they may need to drop few channels to get those new ones. I don't know exactly what are going to miss. SET is there. So world cup 2007 IS GUARANTEED WITH CRYSTAL CLEASR PICTURES.

Guys..scan for channels again to get the new channels.

they have only droped goal1 and goal 2(not confirmed as i got).rest are there.

Hi Kalu....would you know if CBN will introduce the HALLMARK channel to its list?

Thanks

Wait_till_win,
World Cup 2007 is shown on SETMAX. Is SETMAX visible on CBNSat? Or is it SET (the channel we had before closure)? SET and SETMAX are both from Sony but two different channels.

And I personally don’t think Pogo should be dropped(if they plan to drop it that is). It is a favorite among kids and adults (I watch The Looney Tunes show :D ) as far as I know. Maybe zoom but not Pogo.

Speaking about video quality, Animax was the channel with lowest video quality on CBNsat platform before closure (heavy pixilation). At first I though this was a fault with the channel but on DishTv it appears fine. How is Animax video quality now(it’s a useless channel anyways)?

And what are the Zee channels that are on? Its good to hear cbnsat is adding new channels :)

By today morning some Zee channels were there like Zee Cinema, Zee Music, Trendz etc. But still Zee Sports is not active. And MTV, VH1 and SET channles are also back.

I have to mention to you'll that the World Cup 2007 matches are on SET MAX. Not on SET.

So still there are more to come in. I noticed a small pixilation on and off on most of the channels. Hopefully CBNSat engineering guys will sort it out. It is a fault at their end.

I get 77% Signal strength and 59% Signal Quality on the 2nd transponder too !

I personally think Goal TV should be dropped. And one Raj channel should be dropped and Sun TV should be introduced in place of that.

And the other channels to drop is Animax and Zoom.

CBNSat should try and bring premium content as nuch as possible. Don't forget that they have got the Discovery package even before Dish TV. Dish TV got it after about 1 year.

So its' QUALITY over Quantity !

Still all the channels in 2nd transponder are scrambled for me..

Looser said...

Yes i' geting some Zee channels now but the picture quality is very low in most of the channels including movie channels.

What about Sky & Fox Channels? Can CBNSat get these channels? Only StarTV got these channels at the moment.

kaluperuma said...

LST - You are right,SET MAX is still not available with CBN and that is the channel that will broadcast the world cup,The channel available is SET.

No way they are going to drop pogo and Hallmark is not going to be an immediate addition.
