Head of MTV please watch your words

Looks like the District Court case for CBNSat yesterday did not work out, but today is the Supreme Court hearing, is it confirmed and what time is it? Today is the LBN case too.

There is some hope in this but non of us can be certain due to the recent developments in the media front. Please keep us posted on the latest developments and the result of today's hearing.

It is indeed very sad to hear Mr. Chevan Daniel Head of MTV speaking unneccesarily and stating that the tv companies are legitimate businesses and have proper licenses. Mr. Chevan you were obviously hinting at CBNSat & LBN. Shame on you for pointing fingers at others when you guys should all be together to bring down this cordinated effort to bring down the private media in sri lanka. What did Action Tv's and all the others do when people were struggling without Cable TV (TNL is the only station doing something), you guys were obviously happy, due to reasons best known to everyone.

Yes CBNSat & LBN have a license issue but you have no right to use it for your advantage. All of you must stand united otherwise all of you will get spanked.

You are an educated man you and should obviously understand that what is happening to the Cable TV channels is grossly unfair. Watch out Mr. Abey might call all of you illegal.

We are hoping for a positive outcome on the CBNSat case today.

Of Cours Sirasa, MTV, MBC network never happy about CBN. Because Maharaja's were planning on their own SAT TV services, too. Hope you all noticed only the Maharaja channels were not on CBN's local list. They will not want or allow a small timer to come up,either join them or shut out. Did you all notice, there is no or little mention about Lucky Hulugalla in Sunday Leader, although he was instrumental in getting Abey to do the dirty work? There is no competiton for Abey with CBN but direct for Hulugalle. There is a partnership with Hulugalle and Maharajas. Maharaja fund Sunday Leader and they dare write anything against their fund masters. There few dots needs to be connected, and don't everything Sunday Leader writes or Sirasa says. MTV, Channel 1 alwasy felt CBN as a threat for them and they were very happy about the closure and didn't bother covering the court proceedings in their news bulletins. Can't blame Chevan for his comments, because thats what he is employed for:-)

my humble question for President Mahinda Rajapakshe: Why can't I want my son to learn and talk English when you can send your son to the UK and educate him there? In what way is this fair? Are you for democracy or are you moving towards idiocy and military?

Yes ! Why can't us who live here in Sri Lanka and also risking our and our loved ones lives and work for this country is deprived of having infotainment.

We also can leave this troublesome island and live upto any luxuries in a first world country. But we love Sri Lanka like no other. This is our motherland. We love to see our country develop. That's why we are here and serving Sri Lanka to our best in whatever we do to bring the country forward.

So why are we punished like this ?

Is it because you think we are fools who just stay here ??

Or is that the reward you give to true sons of Mother Lanka for the service they give to this Land by not going abroad and spend luxury lives there ??

We are tax paying lawful citizens of this country. Even from the rental or what ever we paid to CBNSat we have paid the government taxes too. We are not corrupt politicians or businessman but earners of monthly wages.

So why are you doing this to us ?

WHY ? WHY ?? WHY ???

why? hmmm.... because the majority's decision is the final decision in a presidential election

here's an idea...because its quite clear that someone or someones have been paid off to prolong this fiasco can't we make a complaint to the Bribery Commission? All they need is a letter, they dont need proof etc. once they get the letter they investigate.

anyone thinks this a good idea?

Lisira, totally agree with sentiments expressed by you. It was our wish too that Sri Lanka should develop and prosper. CBNsat has not only taken a great step to take TV infotainment to Digital era but also became the best in South Asia in terms of quality and customer care. Credit should go to CBN management for still manning a customer service hotline despite innumerable customer calls they receive demanding the resumption of the service etc. But it is rather unfortunate that authorities do not care about the gravity of the situation. Sooner or later whole infotainment industry in Sri Lanka would collapse..

infotainment industry, i think, has already collapsed and demoralised by the con artistry of the present government.

the brainless butt-heads who kindle such fiasco should be sent to school and taught how these circuses affect the people of this country indirectly.

the decision making ability of our leaders is very very poor. i think this mainly stems from the fact that we were always employees to the british and used to carry out their orders and decisions. we didn't do anything on our own. do you think it is impossible for the president to intervene and tell the authorities to do the necessary and allow CBNSat and LBN to resume services? he definitely can. whether he'll do it is the question

i think that statement is untrue. the supreme court judge has called upon all parties on the 1st of august for a hearing. it's after that that things will unfold

as a cbn subscriber why dont we protest?since it will be heard via the intelligence that the citizens as rightful owner has been betrayed due to the judical law system who does not correspond to its definition to its customers

Reading the lead comment 'Head of MTV please watch your words', Im pretty surprised. Im sure young Chevan didn't even remotely mean CbnSat or LBN when he made that comment.
I was watching the press conference and he was easily the reason it was a success. His fearless comments (in his usual style) drove home the point, and led everyone at home to understand the seriousness of the issue. I dont think its fair that unfair comments like these are made. He was merely defending and more often than not attacking this government for this ridulouse policy.
Add to that, Chevan has been at the forefrunt of many national issues and has always proved to be credible beyond the shadow of a doubt. With that in mind, I think we should give him due respect. Perhaps some of the comments he made had some stinging comments which must have hurt the govt, so much so that they responded with a meeting with the president that very week.
So everyone, give this young man the credit he has earned through the years.
