CBNSat Case : CID seeking assistance of Interpol - Daily Mirror 4th July 2006

The CID informed the Magistrates Court yesterday that they were seeking the assistance of Interpol for their investigations into the CBNSat case. They filed a further report of their investigations into the CBNSat case before the Additional Magistrate of Colombo Gayan Pilapitiya.

Senior Stare Counsel Gihan Kulatunge, appearing with the CID, stated that they would not object to the operations of the CBNSat Network, if they TRC or Rupavahini Corporation sanctions them to do so. Senior Counsel appearing for the Media Ministry Hemantha Warnakulasuriya, P.C stated that the CBNSat and the LTTE were using similar frequencies to transmit their programmes. There was a possibility for the LTTE to make use of this channel to transmit their messages. It would become a threat to the security of the country. Therefore, Court should afford serious consideration before reopening transmissions.

Senior Counsel for CBNSat, M.L.M Ameen said that the CID and their Counsel made those allegations to cover up their previous mistakes. While other similar satellite channels were functioning, his service has been shutdown without any reason. He also said that similar frequencies were used by other satellite communicators.

The Case was put off for July 5th.

I think this should be taken up at the Appeal Court or Supreme Court,as the Magistrate seems he is unable to give a decesion for whatever reason and some the leading lawyers do not practice at the magistrates court.

Its time that CBN takes the hard stance as these officials seem to take diplomacy for granted. It seems that the lawyer representing the media ministry doesnt know what he is talking about and the magistrate extends the case.

The District court case (50MIILION) is also supposed to come up tommorow (The case which the Daily news reported was dropped, i suppose)

Its just victimisation.

THIS IS ABSOLUTE SHIT MAN ! CID HAD COMPLETELY FORGOTTTEN THE LICENCING ISSUE NOW. NOW THEY HAVE GONE BACK TO THE ORIGINAL STORY OF CBNSAT HAVING CONNECTIONS WITH LTTE. SOMEWAY OR OTHER THEY ARE GOING TO PROVE THAT. THEY KNOW THAT THIS IS A BASELESS ALLEGATION WHICH CAN BE DRAGGED FOR EVER.

THEY CANNOT DRAG THE LICENCING ISSUE LIKE THAT. THEY WILL HAVE TO ISSUE THE LICENCE IF CBNSAT COMPLIES WITH THE LAWS OF THE LAND.

BUT THIS LTTE ALLEGATION THEY CAN DRAG FOREVER TELLING FOOLISH STORIES TILL CBNSAT CLOSES DOWN OPERATIONS. I THINK THAT'S WHAT THESE GUYS ARE TRYING TO DO NOW !

SO UNFORTUNATELY FOR US ! THE CUSTOMERS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE INFOTAINMENT.

I REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW THIS NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUE DOESN'T APPLY TO TV LANKA ??? THEY ARE ALSO DOING A SIMILAR BUSINESS.
IS IT BECAUSE HE IS A FRIEND OF THE BIG MAN ???

I DON'T KNOW WHETHER THE FACTS IN SUNDAY LEADER IS TRUE BUT THIS TV LANKA GUY IS SUPPOSED TO PAY IN MILLIONS TO SLT WHICH HE ISN'T PAYING. HE COULD DO IT BECAUSE HE IS CLOSE WITH THE BIG MAN ???

AND THE WHOLE COUNTRY INCLUDING THE TRC AND SLT KNOWS THAT THIS MAN WAS DOING ILLEGAL CALL TERMINATION THROUGH HIS NETWORK EVEN BEFORE TRC ISSUED EGO LICENCES ???? HE CAN GET AWAY WITH IT BECAUSE HE IS CLOSE WITH THE BIG MAN ???

SO MY FINAL POINT IS THAT TO DO WHATEVER IN SRI LANKA (LEGAL OR ILLEGAL) WHO HAVE TO GET CLOSE TO A BIG POLITICO ! MAY BE THE BIG MAN. UNLESS YOU WILL END UP IN DEEP SHIT LIKE CBNSAT !

is the lawyers defending the cbnsat case stupid or what?

the LTTE or whatever has to invest RS 30,000 to transmit messages

when they all have to do is buy a Rs 3000 cellphone(capable of messaging)

and a low end service provider like hutch,so they can communicate in colombo haha...anyways or by dialog

and transmit SMS messages..this is so stupid..they have to get a sattelite and a tv and a decorder to get a bunch of messages, these ppl god...since ppl r scared to defend alone,i say we defend as a group, then it wont be as You,it will be as US

This blog is intended for CBNSat customers to tell the world about how efficient their service is, or any problems in their service or just plain congratulate them for a job well done.

Correct me if I'm wrong but my problem with Comet still been operational is that the CID 1st shutdown CBNSat and LBN and then declared then to be operating without he necessary licence.

However for comet - no shutdown whatsoever and they immediately declared that they had had the required licenses to operate.

To me that reeks of duplicity.
