CBNSat 4th Court hearing today

It is now just over a week since the dreadful events of 6/6/6 when CBNSat was shutdown by the authorities and their customers have been very patient with them I hear and also very angry with another person.

This is the 4th hearing and looks like things maybe finally sorted out today. The newspaper carried reports that the judge has told that it was unfair to seal a station when there are other stations also operating illegally. In addition he had also instructed the SLTRC to issue a license as soon as possible since there are over 20,000 customers awaiting their connections to be restored.

It was also reported that when CBNSat customers called them up yesterday, they were told that their connections will be restored after 5:00PM today. Will someone out there confirm this!

In addition it is rumoured that SLRC said that they will issue any license required by CBNSat within 48 hours. Is that 48 hours from today or 48 hours from Monday's hearing is not yet certain. Does anyone know?

Well thankfully the Judge in charge of this case has taken the customers of CBNSat into consideration in his decision making.

Please inform us when the signal returns all you CBNSat customers.

I called them in the morning and They are also waiting for the decesion on the proceedings today.

This is realy irritating and though warrents have been issued all other networks are functioning normel.CBN has further lodged a case at the high courts through Mr.Romesh De Silva PC to quash the order of the magistrate,Which submissions have been called for from the respondnts (CID,AG)on 27.06.2006.

On the previous hearing the judge has addressed the griveness of the victimised subscribers and has instructed the authorities to issue a licence within 48 hours(I hear its from Monday)

Hopefully this would have been done and beleive the legal system in the country will protect the general public against individuals with malicious intentions.

I think after producing the said TV licence in courts today the judge will order to recommence CBNSat services. Hopefully we all could see a result by the evening.

If there are any further investigations to be carried on it can be done as with the other operators.

Still there is no signal on the decorder.

Guess we will know whether it is a yes/no after about 5:00PM.

I hope the ones who are at home will post on this blog what is happening. Today is the most hopeful day and with regards to the attitude of their Customer Care. They sound more positive.

Whats the result on todays' hearing? Simply cannot bear the pain of watching the channel eye telecast of worldcup anymore!!

The court case is at 2.00 PM,so we would know what has happened after around 4.00PM.It seems that CBN has all the clearance what the other operators have, so why the hell has CBN being victimised like this.

Hope the judge would consider the plight of the company, employees and the innocent subscriber and close the issue at least with this hearing.

Because CBN has become a part of our lives and the future.

Even when the president went to Palaly the pictures were transmitted to the Rupavahini Corporation using CBNSat. SLRC had hired CBNSat and their equipment to carry out the connections. Funny that they did this with a illegal channel. Also called Clandestine by a state newspaper. This is Bullshit. Give us CBNSat back today.

Not even that,CBN i hear uplinked Rupavahini & Channel Eye immedietlly on a request made by SLRC as viewers in jaffna were unable to watch these channels and they were with CBN for a quite a few months,Being a so called licening authority didnt they verify the legality prior to all this and how come they withdrew from the platform one week or so prior to this inccidednt and after the relaunch of SATnet.

Is rupavahini also working on the advice of this man with the shadiest of past records.

The Daily News article should have been "RUPAVAHINI CLANDESTINE?

The case has been postponed for Monady,

Whats happening

Anonymous said...

Will we know today either way what's happening? ...If all's well, does anyone know how soon transmission will be reinstalled?

Anonymous said...

I think that the CID is biting its time on the advice of Mr.Nine and they are asking time for each and everything,In this instance they have asked one week to check on the public safety or something and the Judge has given 2 days (Hearing again on Monady)

Why cant CBN get Mr.Romesh De Silva PC to appear on behalf of them(As he is already appearing for them in another case) and we know how versatile he is and he wouldnt allow this hanky panky game the CID and Hulla is playing to drag on this case why causing immense losses and inconveneinces to the subscribers who are the General public

Anonymous said...

What either way?

The case has been postponed for monday on a request from CID

Anonymous said...

Their is nothing about the other stations which warrents have been issued and it seems this CID guys are intent on dragging on this case (Its very easy in this country) and to menataly harass the poor subscriber and CBN to fullfil their ulterior motives

I think they should get Mr.De Silva PC in to the case to stop all theses coruppted practices.

The case is postponed to monday? Why? ... I don't suppose they'll be aloud to transmit until everythings resolved, like the other "illegaly opperating" service providers with the shady political connections, will they? CBNsat please let us know what's happening, fuzzy channel eye world cup coverage is hurting my eyes and giving me headaches!

Anonymous said...

You are right,They will be not allowed to transmit and further hearings will be held on monday,The CID guys are bidding time and you know on whos interest and they dont seem to have checked the licence of the other operators as they did with CBN in a mighty hurry.

Thats why CBN should go for the argubaly the best lawyer Mr.Romesh De Silva PC and he is already appearing for them in another case.He is so versatile and talented that he wouldnt allow these kind of suckers to play around with investors and the general public.

This is where you get disgusted with this country and the legal system.

Another weekend without CBNSat. With next Monday it will be almost two weeks since CBNSat went off air. Are we as customers going to sit and vent our frustrations only on this blog and sit and wait while we suffer. If the private bus drivers and the railway employees can take matters into their hands and go on strike.

Why don't we just call the TRC, etc and give them a piece of our mind. Remember several years ago during the time of ETV 1 and ETV 2. When ETV 2 was shutdown due to a license problem, it was restarted after several viewers called the Ministry and the authorities. Why can't we just do that. Monday is almost a week away.

The thing that has happened is the so called Officials (CID/TRC/SLRC) has asked 2 weeks and security to check the other operators who have been issued warrents so they will be checking on these operators for compliance within these days(It gives the impression that they were afraid to go to this operators without armed escort)

Though they had asked 2 weeks the judge has given only 2 days and unlukily for the CBNsat customers,The judge is unavailable on Friday so it will be taken up on Monday after these so called officials carry out the search on LBN,COMET and hopefully our friend too.

And on the point of the lawyer,i too personaly feel that if Mr.De Silva PC has appeard we would be watching CBN by today evening.

Anonymous said...

Good idea.. at least appeal to have transmision re-instated until the situation is resolved, in the name of what's fair to the consumer; we're the ones who are suffering just so this small man with big connections can promote his latest dodgy service...

Anonymous said...

Can Mr.Hulugalle escort these guys to the innocent LBN and Comet premises and can we subscribers of CBN escort them to SATnet, so they will be protected by about 25000 subscribers and the staff strength at SATnet is supposed to be around 6

This bugger will get for what he did for over 100000 viewers.

Anonymous said...

To this guy who talks about COMET,this is not about CBN,COMET,LBN or whatever network, this is total injustice and we have to stand together and your network could be the next,The officials will very soon walk in to COMET and LBN with the warrent (I hear its today) and you could be in the same soup as the licence what these officials are referring to are complicated and misleading and what you think you have, you dont have.

So you enjoy whatever the connection you have just dont laugh and irritate people when they are in trouble and they have the right to choose whatever they like.

We are not going to laugh at you but help you in your endevour.

hey mister COMET CABLE!!
I just happened to call your general number and tried to connect to your sales guys...(of course to check if I can get a connection soon)... but the phone rang and rang and rang... for ages... nobody answered the phone!! Come on... give me a break... if the pre-sales guys are like this...what can we expect from the after sales customer support..!!
BTW, I was pretty impressed with CBNsat customer support.. esecially when I wanted to move to a new house, their guys did a super job. Hats off to their customer support. That's one of the main reasons why I waited this long without moving to a another cable company... but, now the waiting is going to be way too much... trying the other options. At least till the worldcup is over..!!

CBNSat customer care is denying about the postponement. They say that they will know only after 6:00PM. Either they are hiding it or a prank has been pulled on CBNSat customers by this fellow from Comet Cable.

Anonymous said...

If the officiels seize comet, then this guy can use his old and outdated antenna as BBQ grill(It realy suits the requirement)

And you can get Hulugalles balls BBQ and Grilled for the CID officers who supported him.

Anonymous said...

Whats wrong with this COMET guy?Is he out of his mind?Typical Sri Lankan chinthinaya.

What the fuck is this comet guy talking about? If your so sure about the ownership what is this fighting all about?Hettiarachchie, scooby(NOT DOO)Who are these people?

Anonymous said...

Comet? You mean the channel who used to lose feeds because they couldn't pay the bills to the TV channels? The reason CBNsat has this problem is because they are too good. They are seen as a threat to vested interests unlike Comet who aren't successful enough to threaten anyone.

Court turns down lifting CBNsat ban

The Colombo High Court turns down a request to lift the ban imposed on CBNsat transmissions. However, the case will be taken up for hearing on the 28th of this month.

The CID was ordered to forward any objections against the petition before this day. The High Court judge said it is improper to interfere at a time when the case is being heard in the Magistrate’s Court. The judge also said he has no authority to order a suspension of the probe carried out under the Telecommunications Regulatory Act.

Dear CBNSat customers ! I think we have waited enough ! Shall we call up BOI and TRC tomorrow and pressurise them to do something for us !

TRC is meant to be protecting consumers. So why aren't they speak on behalf of 25,000 CBNSat households ?

Why does CBNSat need to wait till the others get the clearence ? If the licence was given by Rupavahini why can't the court order CBNSat to commence its services.

I think CID is also delaying the case by telling various stories like little kids. They want to drag this thing at least a month till the world cup and the Sri Lanka tour of England is finished.

At least this Hulla can sell few connections for real sports fans. And Rupavahini is also behind by not showing all the matches live !

Dear CBNSat customers !

I'm going to forward a formal request to TRC asking them to take immediate action to restart CBNSat services on behalf of the customers.

Please send me your following details to cbnsat@gmail.com

Name
Address
Contact No and
CBNSat Account number

WE HAVE WAITED ENOUGH !

I confirm that LBN is offline too. From the last evening LBN transmission was stopped. CID can shut down comet also at any moment !

But lucky for our man Hulla SATNET cannot be shut down. Even if CID seals their office the transmission will go on as in is beamed to Sri Lanka from India & Hong Kong.

I think this bugger is going to shut down all the other operators to create him a monopoly
