CBNSat case postponed till Monday 19th June

In what was hoped will the day in which all CBNSat customers will rejoice and have their connections restored. Comments are appearing on this blog that the court has postponed the case till Monday, while the customers suffer. Is there no one in this country to solve the customers grievances.

Honourable President Mahinda Rajapakse, sir it is high time you gave ear to the customers of CBNSat.

The details of why the case has been postponed is still sketchy and I think the information will start pouring in as the hours tick by and I am sure my fellow bloggers will keep this forum updated.

With next Monday it will be two weeks since CBNSat went off air and even though an investigation is being carried out into the other operators, all of them are operating except CBNSat. We are not asking for the other operators to be shutdown, just resume operations and then carry out investigations.

There was a comment on this blog about calling the TRC and relevant government departments and requesting them as citizens of this country.

A mention was made to the ETV 1 and ETV 2 incident several years ago (more than a decade) about ETV 2 being shutdown as a unlicensed TV Station days after it was opened and when the viewers called the authorities concerned and put pressure on them, ETV 2 was back on air.

The phone numbers of TRC and BOI is given in a post below. The customers of CBNSat are frustrated and need to do something. Next monday is still almost a week away.

CBNSat is still to confirm that the case has been postponed.

CBNSat customer care is denying all knowledge of this postponement and they are saying they will get information only about 6:00PM

The case is postponed for MONDAY as the TRC/SLRC/CID asked for 2 weeks and security to check on the other operators which the judgde reduced to 2 days and was to call the case on FRIDAY and unfortunately he is unaivailable on that day,so it has been fixed for MONDAY.

The lawyers should be tough on this issue and should not allow the OFFICILAS to take their client for a ride.It is interesting to see what kind of licence the other operators have when these officiels execute the search warrents. As someone hs indicated Mr.Romesh De Silva PC would have done a excellant job but for the time being Mr.Ameen PC and Mr.Ikram Mohomed PC should ensure that CBN is on air on Monday whatever the circumstances are.

Court turns down lifting CBNsat ban

The Colombo High Court turns down a request to lift the ban imposed on CBNsat transmissions. However, the case will be taken up for hearing on the 28th of this month.

The CID was ordered to forward any objections against the petition before this day. The High Court judge said it is improper to interfere at a time when the case is being heard in the Magistrate’s Court. The judge also said he has no authority to order a suspension of the probe carried out under the Telecommunications Regulatory Act.

Could anyone give the code for set-top box installation menu.

Hey I saw an article on CBNsat in Wikipedia. Can anybody update it? It never seems to have been updated since the raid.

The code for installation menu is 9949. But what good is it when there is no signal. Hope that CBNsat will be back at least on Monday.

Dear CBNSat customers ! I think we have waited enough ! Shall we call up BOI and TRC tomorrow and pressurise them to do something for us !

TRC is meant to be protecting consumers. So why aren't they speak on behalf of 25,000 CBNSat households ?

Why does CBNSat need to wait till the others get the clearence ? If the licence was given by Rupavahini why can't the court order CBNSat to commence its services.

I think CID is also delaying the case by telling various stories like little kids. They want to drag this thing at least a month till the world cup and the Sri Lanka tour of England is finished.

At least this Hulla can sell few connections for real sports fans. And Rupavahini is also behind by not showing all the matches live !

Whats this dragging on for,The councel for CID has informed that they would help CBNsat to get the necessary media licence(Change of Heart) and CBN is on the view that they do not need a licence from RUPAVAHINI as they operate on broadband for which they have a valid licence from TRC.

Dont know what the other operators (Specialy SATnet) have when they are checked by the officials of rupavahini & CID(Who were taken to task by the coincel for RUPAVAHINI Mr.Hemantha Warnakulasuriya, for theier ineffecieny as they had come to SLRC at 12.30 pm yesterday for the purpose, wheres the court instructions were given three days back).

Mr.Ameen Pc has continuesly elobarated that this it is unjust to close on ly one station over a petty issue.

I think there is no substance for the CID in this issue and they are just dragging for the sake of the issue,So everything should be OK by Monday.

The customer care when i called informed that they would be obtaining the media licence as agreed in courts and as this is the only issue by monday, hopefully everything would be OK.

Dont know what will happen with the other operators and whether these operators posess the necessary licences need to be seen

Hey ! Whom to trust then ?? What illegal things can you do with CBNSat account number ?

I suggest all the customers should write or call TRC, BOI, SLRC to show their displeasure about the whole issue.

I called the fellows working at the TRC and when I say I need to speak to some one in authority regarding the CBNSat matter they say that they are not authorised to say anything regarding this. When I requested them that I want to make make a complaint regarding our grievances they cut off the line.

Is this the consumer protection offered by the TRC. How the hell are we to trust the authority that looks after or supposed to look after our interests. I encourage all of you to call them and become a pain in the neck sorry ass to them

I read an article in todays Lankadeepa news paper saying the judge will order the restarting of CBNsat services if it obtain the neccesary licence according to CID. Then CID has said if CBNSat apply for a licence they can consider giving that

That mean the case can be further delayed by CID. I beleive nothing will happen on Monday too. CID have asked for 2 weeks to give their report. But the Judge have ordered to submit it to court on Monday.

Monday CID will come and tell another story to drag the case for sure.

Anonymous said...

I think they'll drag the case further. Because the customer pressure is low.

We have to keep on pestering the neccesary authorities to get CBN soon.

Dear fellow Subscribers ! Noe that the offices are closed for the weekend. Call, fax or email to the contacts on this site.

Lets fill their mailboxes, finish their fax rolls by Monday.

TRC, BOI & SLRC have become a pain to us ! Let's now be a pain to them till they give our CBN back
