Next time these idiots will shut down internet service providers saying that u can watch tv and listen to radio through internet and hence u need a media licence for that.

Is this the type of fools who runs this country ? No wonder that this country is in this state !

They'll ask mobile companies also to obtain media licence because u can watch streamind video on them. State channels are also seen on mobile streaming ! So is this illegal too ?????????

See by going to hide a unjust thing that CID had done to CBN on the orders of Mr. SHITNet and few the whole country is in a mess !!!

Is this RATA PERATA ???????
Or what ????????????

I feel it's neccesary to have access to news 24 hours for people. Electronic media is the fastest in bringing in security updates and news abour natural disastes like tsunamis, floods, hurricanes etc.

Banning TV, RADIO after 10 p.m. or imposing a tax is an idiotic decesion by a foolish minister !

What is this news I'm hearing. People in Sri Lanka have a RIGHT to see me playing for BRASIL & of course see us raise the FIFA CUP. I'm also @ the neck of breaking Mr. Mular's record of 14 goals. I feel so sympathic when I heard about this maniac situation. If something happens to BRASIL, THE CREDIT all goes to this idiots in Sri Lanka. CHEERS,

Well, Sri Lanka is heading for disaster if this MEDIA CRISIS contines. It is also said that there is a possibility that all TV stations have to stop broadcasting after 10 P.M. in order to stop the wastage of electricity. What the hell is this idiotic behaviour. You should stop AC s & other electricity eaters, not the TV. This maniac had started from Satellites & now ending with TV. If this goes on after 6 months there will be no TV or radio broadcasting in Sri Lanka. Well done folks, that the way to develop Sri Lanka. My deepest sympathies...

It seems that many of you are not trying to feel the real situation.
I dont think the CBN is so innocent as they have stated in their latest notice. It seems they have run the company like a commucation centre in a village junction. They have been very careless and irresponsible. But since their opossition(SL Government) is more annoying and courrupted I do not wish to blame cbn anymore.
For all of you I suggest that we must help cbn to come out of this .
But we must push them to bemore responsible on bussiness(They realy lied to us in the early days of crisis).
I am not frogetting the real entertainment cbn gave us and I want to protect it.But i do not wish to stupidly help them on whatever going on.SO I ask all of you to be more realistic

Does this mean that we as customers have to wait till TRC get their act to gether ?. It was TRC fault in the first place. It is also TRC's responsibility to protect customers.

Why is TRC keeping quite now ? I think its only fate that they allow CBNsat & LBN to function until they regulalate the Pay TV providers.

I the Director of TRC has the guts he will give the go ahead to function.......... lets hope he does this by next week.

I think they will unban all 3 sat providers before regulating.

Sri Lanka::
* Sri Lanka govt to regulate satellite service providers
Friday, June 23, 2006, 13:11 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

June 23, Colombo: The controversial probe against satellite television service provider CBNSat is likely to be dropped as the government is considering licensing all satellite service providers.

Accordingly, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) is considering measures to register satellite service providers and promulgate rules to regulate the services provided by them. It is likely that the TRC might register all equipment needed for satellite transmission and reception. Regulations will be provided to enable the TRC to monitor providers, vendors, users and usage of the facilities.

The Criminal Investigation Department recently raided the office of the satellite service provider CBNSat and shut down its transmissions on allegations of operating without a valid licence and approvals. CBNSat went to court against the ruling, and the court extended the shut down order to two more competitive service providers, LBN and SATNet.

Satellite services are becoming popular in both metropolitan and rural areas of Sri Lanka as they provide good service. Signals for most TV stations are very poor in many areas outside Colombo. Lo

TOP FAN - I agree with you and under any circumstances the TRC and the BOI should have clearly guided CBNsat and this sitiuation was clearly created by the corrupted competitor Lakshman Hulugalle and he too has fallen onto the trap set by him.

And did you guys see him at the launch of of the Dfence Web site with Minister Keheliya, sandagiri,Gotabaya Rajapakshe etc,Is this governmement mad to keep a monkey like him in a important ministry like this.

It is is no secret that this man has clearly used his influence to create this situation against CBN.
