CBNSat Magisterial Court Hearing today

Today (15th Aug 2006) CBNSat is scheduled to have their magisterial court hearing. The two week deadline to issue the license that was ordered by the Chief Justice will end on the 17th and it looks like our authorities will be in big trouble if they try to drag this further.

Since the SLRC has also cleared CBNSat we hope that they will be given permission to go back on air. We sincerely hope that the people who were behind this closure will not try anything further, but needless to say that the CBNSat customers are ready to take action if they do try anything.

We would like to sincerely request the learned magistrate to allow CBNSat to continue operating, also would like to request the officials at the media ministry to take the plight of over 20,000 subscribers into consideration and issue the license to CBNSat.

We would like our fellow readers to post the time at which the hearing will be held today, and also to keep us updated on the result of today's hearing.

Things should turn good today if the media ministry is efficient. because they were ordered by the Supreme court to finish this off by today at the magistrates court. And according to our understanding the SLRC have also submitted their technical report to the Colombo Magistrate.

So everything is clear from the legal point of view and the Magistrate court can't go against the Supreme court order.

Now it's a matter of finalising things according to the law and hope no one can come and mess up the CJ's orders today.

As one of our friends said this is Sri Lanka ! "A LAND LIKE NO OTHER"

So let's wait and see what happens today and keep our hopes of CBN coming back on 23rd !

GOOD LUCK FOR ALL THE CBNSAT SUBSCRIBERS !!!!

It was reported that the president has also instructed to issue the licence without any further delay, and we have to watch whether these officials at the Media Ministry will even heed to the Presidents request(Though we are well aware that Baluwardena & Huluballa are his men)

Its time the magistrates court be efficient and sort out this matter without any further delay as they should be well aware that this cannot be dragged past the 23rd and it would highlight the ineffiency of the lower court.

Everything seems good for todays hearing. Most probably they will allow CBNSat to start their transmission from next week. But still we have to wait & see what these buggers are trying to do.

Furthermore there are lot of good news for customers. CBNSat has already signed with ZeeTv telecast four of their channels on CBNSAT. Even their website has noted that CBN is one of their partners.
Details of the channels are as follows

1. ZEE TV - Drama channel like Sony
2. ZEE Studio - Hollywood movie channel(English)
3. ZEE Cinema - Hindi Movie Channel
4. ZEE Treandz - Fashion channel

So we all will have some more entertainment after this idiots let CBNSat to start their transmission.
I'm not sure all these are free or not. but definitely they are going to start soon. CBN didnot start other star package channels which also scheduled very soon.

LET'S WAIT & SEE WHAT HAPPENS. ULTIMATELY TRUTH WILL WIN.

Any God News from Courts?? What time is the hearing??

ROMESH said...

NOT YET ALFY,THE HEARING IS AT 1.30 OR SOMETHING.

CBN_lover,THERE ARE MORE CHANNELS ON THE ZEE PACKAGE AND EVEN A SPORTS CHANNEL AND WHAT ABOUT THEM?

ANYONE FROM THE SUBSCRIBER UNIT GOING FOR THE COURT CASE?

Lightning_Struck_Tower said...

On zee television corporate subscriptions page, only the above mentioned 4 channels are listed. Both CBNsat and LBN are displayed as registered.

ROMESH said...

But it would be better if it could be introduced with at least the SPORTS CHANNEL.

Hopefully the magistrate is ready to correct the mistake done by the useless officials and the Abeywardena gang.

I HOPE THE LEGAL TEAM OF CBNSAT IS DOING EVERYTHING TO GET THIS SORTED OUT TODAY THAN WAITING FOR 23.08.2006.

Some subscribers will be there at the courts and the hearing will be at 1.30 ~ 2 p.m.

Let's hope and pray an end to this whole drama today at the magistrate court. That's what CJ have instructed. the only possibility to postpone is they can ask till 17th becuase it's the date given to them (2 weeks from 3rd)

But what's the point in dragging this for only few days ??? Only to inconvenience us the subscribers. Anyway we believe even if they drag this further they will not be able to go beyond the 23rd deadline.

Hopefully everything is ok today. Anyway the Zee Channels are all Hindi ones. I do not understand their strategy to introduce Hindi Channels. But I also checked the Zee Website and it looks there is some mistake.

LBN shows Zee Cafe too but it is not listed on the Website of Zee so I think the channels that they have listed there are not neccessarily what we will get. Any out of those listed the only watchable one is Zee Studio hopefully it contains Zee Cafe too.

HI hope we have very good news today and we will be able to watch at least their existing channels today.

I have high hopes of resolvement of issue today at the hearing.

Let keep our fingers crossed though.

one hour more for years of jubilation or one more week of frustration.

my prognosis is jubilation it shall be for CBN

DEAR FRIENDS,

ALL OF US WILL HOPE FOR THE BEST FOR CBN AND SUBSCRIBERS TODAY. AS HUSH SAID WE WILL KEEP OR FINGERS CROSSED BUT HOPE FOR THE BEST !

IF IT IS NOT SOLVED TODAY IT WILL BE BAD FOR THE JUDGE, THE LAWYERS AND THE GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AS IT SEEMS LIKE THEY ARE NOT CARING CJ OR THE SUPREME COURT. BECAUSE IF THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING THE CASE WILL BE TAKEN AGAIN IN THE SUPREME COURT.

THAT'S WHY THE SLRC, TRC AND CID GAVE THEIR REPORTS QUICKLY TO THE MAGISTRATE LAST WEEK. NOW IT'S A MATTER OF THE MEDIA MINISTRY TO ACT FAST.

WE COULD SEE THE RESULT IN FEW HOURS TIME !

They can extend it indefinitely. to enable their crooked holigfans to obtain licenece.

I beleive CBN has applied for the nessesary licence!

If so and add to it SLRC and CID has cleared of threats what is stopping them from issuing licences?

dee.panadura said...

Saw the notice.

I beleive all current providers have to have the licence (including the illegal SATNET)

if the others are opperating CBN should be allowed too.

Over to the legal buffs.

Lisura said...

In this press release of TRC they say that this extend is due to the requests of the "interested" parties. We all should know who this is ??? We will definitely find it out !!!

And if these people can't at least submit their application on time we can think of their service levels. And there should be a hidden agenda at the TRC to extend the deadline like this. This is the 2nd time that they have extended.

I think they will go on like this extending until their "interested" parties gets to apply !!!!

I feel deadlines should be met. Exteding it once might be acceptable but this is absurd !

Alf said...

Well well don't know what TRC is upto this time. And what a joke this is..if the so called INTRESTED PARTIES cannot apply in time don't issue any licenses to them. It seems like TRC is desperate in getting these intrested parties the licenses.

Lisura said...

TRC is really "interested" in issuing licences to these "interested parties" !
That's why they are extending the deadline. If these parties are so interested why cant they apply soon ??? Is this another plot to drag the licensing issue ????

Lightning_Struck_Tower said...

Are the "interested parties" really interested? Total bullshit. I bet my ass this is another plot to delay CBNsat's licence issue.

dini said...

yeah! they could easily say they cannot start processing licences until all providers submit. and this is possible only on the 15th of september! god bless sri lanka

NotBloodyFooled said...

From what I heared from the CBN SAT customer care todays case is about produsing the amendments to the courts ,that would regularise the industry. So no hope of any transmission to day........Any comments

Alf said...

If above post is true about ammendments then this will never end...b'cos there will be endless number of ammendments and each time it would be produced to MC then ammended again, so on.

Lisura said...

Then how come the others operate without this licence.

Comet, Satnet, TV Lanka, Star Cable, Delta Cable, Globe vision........... No one has this new licence !!!!!!!!!

So how come they operate and CBN and LBN is shut !!!!!

hope CBN lawyers will not leave any room to delay this beyond 23rd !

NotBloodyFooled said...

If you ask me CBN sat lawers are sleeping on it and its pissing the shit out of me.....

hush said...

if TRC is playing the fool by extending deadlines at the last minute, then courts should be able to see beyond what TRC or any other authority comes up with and ask them to get their act together and at the same time give current providers to operate.

this is ridiculing the whole justice system and courts should put a fullstop to this nonsense and take these miserable elements to task.
