CBNSat commences test transmissions

We are receiving confirmed reports that CBNSat has commenced transmitting test signals and all customers are getting the Green Color light on their decoder. No channels are visible upto now and it looks like it will remain that way till the license is issued, however there may be a slight chance that some channels may be viewable as the hours or days pass by.

We believe the testing began at approximately 13:00Hrs and has been continuing on and off after that. It is not clear for how many hours they may test for a day. But this is a relief for many subscribers who were seeing the red light on their decoder for the past 2 months.

The local channels are showing "no signal" and the others are showing "scrambled" since the testing began. Our hope is that the licenses will be issued soon and things will be back to normal at least for the two cable tv operators LBN & CBNSat.

We would request our readers to keep us updated on the events regarding the test transmission and any other information related to CBNSat as we progress into the weekend.

I got a news that CBNSat is going to start their transmissions with a bang and probably we'll be getting few more channels on board, don't know what the channels are .. If anybody has more on this pls update.......

They sure can deliever a killing blow to all other operators as they have mammoth channel capacity of 120 channels. Imgine CBNsat offering the Star Package along with the 25+ premium channels they currently possess. Not even the first DTH provider in south asia (DishTV) can rival Cbnsat in terms of quality. And Sonicnet's DTH platform is the world's most advanced. We all had doubts about theit financial stability when the court hearing was postponed by 1 months. They have the money. They have the tech. So yes, if they want they can virtually kill competition.

Thus there is a good chance they kick off with a blast.

Hay what happend to that comet guy??????????

cbnsatcustomer said...

Yes I'm also getting the signals but still all the channels are scambled.

hush said...

it would be ideal strategy to kick off with a few more premium channels added to the list.

Star world would be great option, lets hope for the best as we have chosen the best Pay TV provider if not Just in Sri Lanka at least in this region and with quality second to none.

While trying to "hack" (lame and unsuccessful attempt) I think I messed up the setting.
Can someone please post the correct LNB and TP settings for CBNSat receiver?

Thanks.

Despite all the dirty work done at all levels, CBNSat has not stooped down to those levels. They have played it clean and with a "straignt bat". This is one of the reasons why they have not lost their customers. The other is the quality of their service.
Let us hope for uninterrupted viewing of quality TV from now on.

Dear Messed Up Idiot

I am not sure where in the menu to find the settings. But there are entries for LNB Type and teletext PID in the Channel Status screen. LNB: Universal 31
Teletext PID: 0
Hope this is what you are looking for?

Wow! How nice would it be if we get the STAR package. It would be a wonderful, surprise gift for all of us CBNSat customers who patiently waited without jumping to another cable provider. I am sure, CBNSat will give us all something to smile about when they start transmission.

Dear Messed up idiot

LNB type:Universal #1

If CBNSat is introducing new channels.. I prefer them to introduce Star World and Ten Sports..

I checked out the connection in the afternoon. The signal strength was shown around 55%- the normal level. The foreign cahennels were scrambled but "No signal" was indicated on the Srilankan channels. But going through the channel list I came across 2 channels called TV 31 and TV 32 (or 32 and 33). The 2 Rupavahine channels were misssing (I believe Rupavahini has pulled out their cahannels from CBN. Now that the controvercy is coming to an end- hope Rupavahini gets back on the bandwagon.

Hope CBNSAT rewards us for being patient and standing by them by adding a few cahannels to the line up.

Thanks cableguy

I’m not sure if we have different decoders, but setting I need as follows

Menu > Installation (Pwd: 9949) >Channel Search > Modify LNB (red button)
Universal LNB: ?
Low Freq: ?
High Freq: ?
LNB Power: ?
DiSEqC Type: ?

And then on
Menu > Installation (Pwd: 9949) >Channel Search >TP Edit (green button) > Modify TP (red button)
Frequancy: ?
Symbol Rate: ?
Polorization: ?

Note there are 2 TPs

If anyone have original settings as that came in, please post.

Thanks.

Rupavahini and eye began malfunctioning on CBNsat several days before shut down. At least a day before shutdown, the names TV31 and TV32 appeared instead of rupavahini and channel eye. My point is the change of names did not happen AFTER shutdown.

It's nice to hear that CBN will going to bang.
I'm asking them to give us GODTV
It also a FTA channel

Lightning_Struck_Tower said...

I dont think GODTV idea is a very good one. Religious content = trouble.

ROMESH said...

CBNsat will defeneitly come with a bang and they would defeneitly add the ZEE pakage which they have already signed for and i hear that the star people are now after CBNsat and they are supposed to be realy interested,so it will defeneitly be there once they are settled down,Ten sports is also another channel most people are interested and dicussions had gone with TAJ TV and CBN it seems are realy be not interested in obtaining TEN because the future contentent is not going to be that good(Though i firmly beleive it is a must channel) and still the rights are held by COMET(Untill september if i am right)

GOD TV was in the pipeline and i suppose it still is,But they will have second thoughts because it is relegious contentent.

But the STAR PAKAGE,TEN will defenietly be there some time in the future and ZEE package and DISNEY i hear is going to be the immediate boanaza.

jesika said...

Hay Romeah!

Why you say "they will have second thoughts because it is relegious contentent" for GODTV ?
You are talking like relegious contentent is a prohibitad thing. !!

This country needs relegious things now !

you are talking it like a illegal thing.
What a fool !

ROMESH said...

JESSIE THE PROBLEM IS NOT WITH US THE SUBSCRIBERS OR THE COMMON MAN,BUT WHEN WE LOOK AT WHAT CBN HAS GONE THROUGH,THESE MUGS WHO RULE THE COUNTRY CAN MAKE A ISSUE OUT OF THAT, SAYING SOME FOOLISH THING,YOU KNOW WHAT THEIR ATTITUDES ARE,BUT STILL IT MAY BE ON AIR VERY SOON

ROMESH said...

You seem to be the real fool JESICA,i was talking the actual facts what i know and its not my thought for me to be a fool.

If you are dont know anything about this issue just shut your bloody mouth and wait.

ROMESH said...

Its a shame that people like this JESICA arshole who doesnt understand a damn are subscribers of CBN,

The person seems to be a TVLANKA sort of guy,Koheda yanne malle pol.

FOOL:

prmo said...

LST and Romesh are absolutely correct abd CBN should take every precation to stay away from controvasy.

Baluwardena & Huluballa are capable of making a issue out of this,Looking at their past record and what they preach now.

No one can question abput TEN,STAR,DISNEY and ZEE,they are the quality content the people are after.

Lightning_Struck_Tower said...

Lets not start fighting over this. But i have to agree that bringing religious content into CBNsat will be like handing over nuclear weapons to the unethical competition.

I believe GODTV is a christian channel? (i'm a buddhist). Imagine how followers of the other religions will respond if GODTV goes on air? They would want channels of their own religions too. How would you respond if a sensitive islamic channel went aborad on CBNsat? This causes division between subscribers. This causes division and doubt between potential buyers. People in srilanka might even call CBNsat "propoganda machine".

It's an entertainment and infortainment platform guys. Religious content is sensitive.

ALISON said...

Yes LST its better to limit infortainment,as some people will want their regious channel so on.

The best thing is to stick to this formula and keep away from controvasy so we dont some other issue to spring up and give the upper hand to TVLANKA and SATnet

By the way how is the illegal station SATnet performing?Have they being able to sell even 50 connections after doing all the dirty work to close CBN?They have a issue as Dish TV is giving STAR CHANNELS on their package and SATnet is selling star at a clossal sum,Call 2596800 and have a laugh.

Chathuranga said...

Here we are again... talking rubbish about religious channels. It’s obviously a NO!!! I personally think CBN should stay away from anything that anyone else can hold against them. Not to be pussies but, when someone performs well, there are a million others who want them to fail. That’s the reality in this country and the mentality of our people. I praise CBN for who they are and what they represented and they deserve to be back on. They even deserve to be the market leader because they didn’t screw anyone to get to where they were/will be.

We trust them to provide us with quality content and I’m sure anyone here will agree that, if the quality is right, we will pay the price for it because all of us are starved for something better than our local channels can offer. Everyone here knows all this happened because CBN and other upcoming content providers are slowly turning people away from the boring, pathetic programmes that we’re forced to watch everyday. They even screw with the private channels with outrageous taxes just because they are showing foreign programmes, all the in the guise of ideals like; we should nurture more Sri Lankan programmes that talk of our heritage, history and culture (what culture?) They brainwash us with their bullshit and we’re all sick and tired.

It’s quite clear that the mentalities of people who are running the show is to give us two choices; either go their way or don’t have a way. I know all this has been discussed before, but the fact remains that, we tend to forget the inconsiderate things they’ve done to us very easily. This will obviously happen again; another time, another day. We all know that CBN is not ONLINE yet. They’ve delayed court hearings on this so many times. Just because they said they’ll sort the matter out by Aug 23rd does not give a proper assurance to anyone. It’s just some sort hope for me.

Wishing CBN Sat and all who wish for better entertainment the best of luck. Let’s keep our fingers crossed. We will be watching.

Thanks Romesh for the information about the upcoming Zee and Disney Packages.
However brother, I would also like to see CBNSat carry God TV too. I understand about your concern about the other religions and if there are channels available for Muslims, Hindu's and Buddhist's CBNSat should add them on their network too. All Cable TV Channels in Sri Lanka except CBNSat and Comet Cable carry God TV and other religious channels as well. Due to the distinct advantage that CBNSat has over others due to technology they can restrict the channel to the people who want to watch God TV and keep it scrambled for the others, who do not want it. Frankly there are many Christians in Sri Lanka who are waiting for CBNSat to introduce God TV to purchase a CBNSat connection. We will not have any problems from Mr. Hulla since Dish TV also shows God TV. In India God TV is available on all Cable TV networks.

Well just for your info LST, Al Jazeera was available on LBN along with God TV and a Hindu Channel and they have not had any problems regarding the inclusion of those channels.

Since CBNSat has a huge channel capacity it will not hurt having a few religious channels also aboard it after all, it is all about choice and the more channels the better the choice.

Hopefully my choice of channels on CBNSat soon will be Star World, Star Movies, Zee Cafe, Channel V International, God TV, Ten Sports, Disney Channel.

So finally I like to say that God TV should be on CBNSat and it should be only visible for those who want to view it since then it will not offend anybody.

Chaturanga please do not call religious channels rubbish since there are people who like to view them too. WE SHOULD HAVE CHOICE.

Everybody is fighting for new channels on CBN but still they are not online...and i wish anybody can publish the status of the discussions with TRC and what is in store for tomorrows court case. After CBN is online we can discuss about what should come in. So can somebody pls update us the situ??

hush said...

shall we all concentrate on getting CBN on air before looking at the issue of religious channels.

the way the things are going on in Sri lanka and especially pay TV, one should really think twice about controversial issues which might lead to worse things.

lets play it safe and concentrate on getting CBN as we might end up with nothing.

wonder whether this issue was introduced with a intent to divide the unity among CBN customers??

diehard said...

Holy mother of crap! CBNSat is still not online and you guys want GodTV? What do you want next? The whole extreme buddhist community to rally against the CBNSat?
Let the company operate for another 6 months before getting these contraversial channels online. As person I dont give rats ass about GodTV or BuddhaTV or whether any prophet is transmitted to home even, but there are some idiots who will get offended by this ( I am a Buddhist)..

Lightning_Struck_Tower said...

Well just for your info LST, Al Jazeera was available on LBN along with God TV and a Hindu Channel and they have not had any problems regarding the inclusion of those channels.

All cable operators carried FashionTV. But the one that came under fire for destroying culture with it was CBNsat.
I dont have anything against christian channels or islamic channels. My point is that in srilanka, friends of the government are god. This will be my last say on the topic. There is no reason to fight over this matter as CBNsat is still not on air. First priority should be to get it back on air. So no hard feelings.

Cable Guy said...

I agree with hush, I never seen the person who brought out the GodTV issue posted here before.

Could be a polt of our enemy.

Also, I would advice the blog admin to remove the topic that has been posted on the main page.

Our focus should be on getting CBN online.
I have not seend the green light yet.

bank_dude said...

Guys for god's sake please drop this religious channel issue. If GodTV on board it will leed to another controversy. What we had gone through is enough and all of us suffered a lot. If they telecast GodTV, people will say that now CBN tries to convert people. I'm a buddist and I know that GodTV does not contain such things but people can say. My personal view is not to show any religious channels because it will leed to tons of problems.
Dude I'm sorry brother I cannot agree with you regarding about this matter. LBN shows GodTV and other religious channels except buddist channels and LBN caters to limited subscribers. But If CBN do this, it will be a disaster for them because CBN has more subscribers. It's true that those who doesn't want to have GodTv can be scrabled. As we know that we humans want to watch this channel because of the curiosity. Finally for the safer side please do not encourage them to do this

Dude said...

Come On Die Hard we are just discussing about our views on this subject. It is understandable that you get offended but you can ask CBNSat to block the channel if you do not want it. The other Cable TV channels have not had any problems regarding God TV.

If the whole extreme Buddhist Community wanted to protest then they should have done so against all the Multivision operated channels as well as against LBN.

Hush this is not dividing the CBNSat customers. CBNSat customers have proved that they are one big happy family and in a happy family there are arguments.

So this is an argument but it will not deter our main aim of getting CBNSat back on air first.

Bank_Dude the reason that the other cable channels do not show a Buddhist Channel is because of lack of availability, otherwise they will definitely show it.

Dish TV in India has over 1 million customers and most of them are hindu's but they show God TV.

Messed up idiot said...

Could someone please let me know the correct settings for the CBN decoder?
please post it here or email it to hack_n_mod2005@yahoo.com

Btw, please drop the religious subject. First let's get the channels we has restored.

Thanks.

We are sorry Cable Guy but there is a discussion regarding religious channels and the post in the main page was inserted because of the dicussion that was going on. We are not in a position to remove it and this is not to intended to divide the customers. However our main goal is to get CBNSat back on air and that objective will continue. Jesika who started this discussion has posted on this blog before.

YES ! ALISON, PRMO AND LST IS CORRECT ! CBN SHOULD NOT TRY TO CREATE CONTOVERSIES ON THEIR OWN NOW ! PLAYING SAFE IS THE BEST ! EVENTHOUGH SRI LANKA IS A MULTI RELIGIOUS COUNTRY THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE (75%) ARE BUDDHISTS. SO IF CBNSAT IS TO TRANSMIT RELIGIOUS CHANNELS THEY SHOULD BROADCAST CHANNELS IN 4 DIFFERENT MAIN RELIGIOUS FAITHS. OTHERWISE IT WILL CREATE ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS FOR CBN.

AND GOD TV IS A FREE TO AIR CHANNEL AVAILABLE IN PAS 10 SATELLITE.

SO IF ANYONE IS REALLY INTERESTED IN WATCHING GOD TV THEY COULD DO IT VERY CHEAPLY BY BUYING A FTA RECEIVER AND WATCH IT "FREE" WITHOUT EVEN PAYING A CENT TO ANYONE.

I THINK CBNSAT SHOULD STICK TO THEIR IDENTITY AS A ENTERTAINMENT AND INFOTAINMENT PROVIDER.

HOPE THE MAJORITY WILL AGREE WITH ME !

Dude said...

Lisura! Whilst appreciating your efforts to have CBNSat back on air.

YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT TO TELL US WHAT WE CAN WATCH ON TV OR WHAT WE CAN ASK FROM CBNSat.

CBNSat can transmit Muslim Channels, Hinud Channels, etc. What are the people to do if there is no Buddhist Channel around.

I am not telling CBNSat to show only God TV. I said that they can show all the other religion channels also. What is your point that the majority 75% are Buddhists. So! Let it be, do we always have to abide by what the buddhists say? If they are not comfortable with this let them have it blocked out. Yes God TV is available FTA on Pas 10 but you need to buy a dish and a decoder to view it and it come to about Rs 20,000/= to purchase it.

People in Sri Lanka are not rich enough to buy both a connection for Rs 17,000/= and another for Rs 20,000/=.

CBNSat has a Gold Mine of people who are willing to purchase CBNSat connections when they get God TV because they want regular entertainment plus the religious channel.

SO CBNSat must get God TV but this is not required immediately. Just do it after the things start cooling down.

DO NOT ALWAYS LOOK UPON PEOPLE WITH SUSPICION SINCE people with attitude like that only caused this problem in the first place.

hush said...

the sense of feeling that one get from this blog is that the matter of religion is a sensitive one.It always has been from inception of mankind.

Imagine this getting in to papers. we would have a real mess on our hands.

Lets keep cool and keep a lid on it as this looks like a mine field and vested interests will thrive on it.

focus on tomorrows magistrate hearing and work together to get CBN on air just like we all did during the last few months.

happy familys do have arguments but its time to settle before things get out of hand effecting our primary objective of getting CBN on air.

Let CBN management take care of everything else.

Lisura said...

"Dear Dude and others who want GOD TV"

I don't want to comment on the GOD TV channel anymore and our only hope is that CBNSat doesn't fall into unesessary trouble and controversy in future.

That's it !

Dude said...

I agree with Romesh. To make it prime CBNSat needs only Star World, Star Movies and Ten Sports.

It is nice to hear that CBNSat has already signed up with Zee and Disney. I got info that they have already negotiated with Sun TV too. Not sure of the correctness though.

I think we should not hold the admin of the blog responsible for the God TV discussion since they were only highlighting the discussions that had taken place and giving their view.

Also appreciate Lisura's efforts to get CBNSat back on air once again.

I personnaly feel God TV should be on CBNSat ALONG WITH OTHER RELIGIOUS CHANNELS, after all these things cool down. Before that please give us Ten Sports, Star World. My opinion.

Thanks for the hearty discussion after all we are all friends still right.

Unfortunately Romesh since God TV operates on C-Band the antenna is Rs 20,000/=. You must be referring to the FTA Dish TV broadcast that can be viewed on Ku-Bandfor Rs 10,000/=. The problem is I do not trust the Dish Tv.
