yes but what does this mean? that they cant give the licence till everyone applies?

How come this interested parties cant fill the necessary applications and they want over two months to do it.

You can imagine the contents that will be available from these interested parties who take over two months to perfect a simple application.

Its shows the quality of TRC who are working on the so called interested parties.

since SLRC have cleared CBNsat the chances of getting online is high cos the Court can order TRC to issue the License and till then allow CBNSat to operate on a tempororay license, that is if it is really necessary. So lets keep our fingers crossed.

Don't know whether the Media Minister will come and say that they do not have time to look into this with the security developments in the Country.

the time extension on the application, i think, carries all the characteristics of a 'gimmick'

if MC cannot get it right today then SC will definitely put everything in order on 23rd Aug.

this is so...kingdergarden stuff from TRC and taking the judicial system for a ride.

kiddies stuff really from TRC and they should be treated as such by MC

Isnt it the time that MC verdict came out? whats keeping them..doesnt look too good to me!

As for CBN the TRC issue will not be problem and it had been throught,But the problem lies with the so called Media licence and with the SLRC clearance this certainly wont be a problem.

If the magistrates courts cant solve this problem today with a clear supreme court order the exsistance of this kind of a courts are useless.

romesh is right about SC having a binding power on the MC,

its no wonder that our judicial system has a long list of cases in lower courts.

dini said...

any news?!!

ROMESH said...

POSTPONED TO THE 24th,The media guys have asked one month to pass the legislation in court.

dini said...

oh man!!! further aggravation to the subscribers. nobody cares about anything in this country. how much more do we have to put up with?

Alf said...

Well again a postponement. Can we hope for something on the 23rd?? What a shit case is this???

dini said...

this is pure green bullshit!!! the matter is supposed be sorted out by the 23rd according to the SC verdict. how come the magistrate court postpone it to the 24th?

Alf said...

Then what about those stations that currently operate without these legislations??

ROMESH said...

There are no charges against CBN by CID,TRC,SLRC or any part,Its totaly the Media Ministry fools with their lawayer Warnakulasuriya who had requested one month to draft the legislation.(My friend at the court told CBNsat have not argued but has only requested to take up the case on 24.08.2006 the day after the supreme court hearing). It is evident that CBN does not have any confidence on the Magistrate courts as we do and that is clearly justifiable as the supreme court rejected the request for one month.

What a country.

Dont worry gus. MC heard the case for two months and nothing happened. Only 2 SC hearing and the seals were removed. This is why i didnt hav any hope in the hearing today. SC will put it correctly on the 23rd.

the fools aren't still giving up their gimmicks, isn't it? who are these lawyers who are supporting these fools?

hush said...

honestly we have wrong people sitting in wrong places.

maybe they should be educated further about the functions of a spine and how to use it.

SC is the only place that I personally believe will set things straight.

as said before judgement day is 23rd.

Alf said...

why could'nt CBNSat lawyers argue that other operators are working without this license..and since this is a new one they could adhere to it once it is passed...not by shutting down till the legislation is drafted.

If CBNSat is playing safe till the SC case on the 23rd let's wait till then and see.

ROMESH said...

They would have had clear reasons not to argue and how could they have any confidance on the magistrates courts and simply when they dont have any charges against them.

Any Kid would have given a decesion today and you could see how influenced these things are and the CJ would be wondering who this inefficient magistrate is on the 24th.

These mugs are a kind of jokers who still have the idea of running down CBNsat with cash flow problems,What a joke.

CJ should put the media guys straight since they directly had no regard for the SC ruling that it has to be given within 2 week time frame.

Even at that time media guys wanted a month. Now after 2 weeks of the judgement they are asking another month from the MC directly violating the SC order. This is contempt of SC.

thus it shows that when they asked 1 month from SC they were not prepared to give license within a month as it looks more like 6 weeks if you consider they requested the 1 month from Aug03.

Hope the justice is not so blind as not to see whats happening.

CJ restore our faith in the judicial system when everything else seems corrupt at least not let this highly regarded institution fall in to the same category.

I think the MC should be only allowed to handle cases such as kassippu, pickpokets, jumping red lights, robbing coconuts etc.

this case seems to be way beyond the MC's means.

Correct me if im wrong
