CBNSat Test Transmissions to commence tomorrow

Unconfirmed reports say that CBNSat will carry out test transmissions commencing tomorrow. We require confirmation on this report and also would like our readers who have access to information such as what the nature of the test transmission is, to keep us updated on whether any channels will be visible to us during the test transmission and the timing of the test transmission.

We have got confirmation that the CBNSat seals were removed on Tuesday 8th Aug 2006.

According to a report in yesterdays The Morning Leader it says that CBNSat and LBN will be able to commence operations by September.

The report also says that SLRC have cleared CBNSat of having any links with the LTTE. Given below is an excerpt of the report by Dilrukshi Handunnetti of The Morning Leader 9th Aug 2006.

"In the meantime, Director General, SLRC, Palitha Gallage has submitted a report to the Colombo Magistrate that after technical evaluation of the equipment used by CBN Sat, it could be concluded that the satellite equipment by the company had not been used for broadcasting purposes by either the LTTE or similar channels compromising national security.

Further, Gallage had stated that the LTTE has regularly transmitted news using PAS 12 satellite during the period when CBN Sat was temporarily closed. PAS 12 satellite has been used for the transmission of National TV of Tamil Eelam which is a free to air transmission, Gallage said in his report."

We would like our readers to keep us updated on any new developments as the day progresses.

I don't know why they will not allow CBNSat to operate before September. Specialy since the court case is in August 15th and they have already claered CBNSat from any involvement to LTTE channel.

The article is probably speculating the opening date since we have already seen many postponements.

It is highly probable that CBNSat will open on or before 23rd Aug 2006 since they are also very confident of this.

Does anyone know the timing of the test transmission and is the test transmission for tomorrow confirmed.

Yes LBN are testing from 10-4 today and as for CBN,They will be doing only internal testing and are confident of being on air by 23.08.2006.What i feel is they are playing this safe after going through a nightmare in the interest of few corrupted individuals.

Its realy good to see the people behind this issue being exposed little by liitle and the SLRC report is a pre indication that the services will be back on 15.08.2006.

The article clearly has highlighted that the closure was the work of TV LANKA,guy B A C ABEYWARDENA and the competitors refered to, we anticipate as LAKSHMAN HULUGALLE(He needs no introduction)

Whatever happens its time that CBNsat also expose these corrupted individuals with vested interest as both these people are political apointees to high offices in the government sector.

Its good if someone can publish the whole article.

I agree with Alison. CBN Sat should maintain their diplomatic manner which they handled the whole thing from the day one. Some times, as subscribers we felt like that they are very slow and mild on the issue. But, now it has provan that they have handled the issue in a matuared and proffessional manner.

Let them do the rest also in their style. I am confident that they will come out of this rut with a permenant stability. They will be much stronger, once cleared by the courts and all authorities and then, future will be guranteed without this type of problems.

It's really encouraging to hear such a news. I hope that CBN will be able to commence their transmission on 23rd based on the existing grounds. (unless someone dig a hole)

They defeneitly will be back and with the clearance given by DG SLRC on the security issue is a bold move by them(Dont know whether Abeywardenas assumption that even RUPAVAHINI uplink to Jaffna is illegal promted them for fair play)

With the order by the Supreme court,I dont think they will try to play the game they played at the magistrates courts with a claim of 100 million looming over them(Abeywardena may poket it out with the played out money from SLT)

I personaly feel that CBNsat should claim clossal sums from the CID,TRC,BOI,MEDIA MINISTRY as damages and componsation once they are on air.

Don't know whether SLRC wants CBNSat help on transmission of SAF games coming up..cos they have said in the dailynews that they are going to do it in a very international way!!

When CBNsat comes on air, i wish they would enter ALL the markets that TVLanka currently operate their shit on. With CBNsat's local channels, TVLanka will stand no chance. That would be a massivle blow for BAC Abeywardernahu...

I have realiable news that they wont be doing any test transmissions, other than testing the equipment internaly and this is because as ALISON said to play it safe knowing what the authorities are capable of.

Yes,they should transmit to all the places where TVLANKA is,as he is trying to deprive people all the good things because he wants to earn a fast buck.

yeah, i guess playing it safe is a good option as we do not want to give a window of opportunity to vested interests to drive a wedge in to the favourable position that CBN is in right now till everything is clear and crystal.
