CBNSat commences test transmissions

We are receiving confirmed reports that CBNSat has commenced transmitting test signals and all customers are getting the Green Color light on their decoder. No channels are visible upto now and it looks like it will remain that way till the license is issued, however there may be a slight chance that some channels may be viewable as the hours or days pass by.

We believe the testing began at approximately 13:00Hrs and has been continuing on and off after that. It is not clear for how many hours they may test for a day. But this is a relief for many subscribers who were seeing the red light on their decoder for the past 2 months.

The local channels are showing "no signal" and the others are showing "scrambled" since the testing began. Our hope is that the licenses will be issued soon and things will be back to normal at least for the two cable tv operators LBN & CBNSat.

We would request our readers to keep us updated on the events regarding the test transmission and any other information related to CBNSat as we progress into the weekend.

They sure can deliever a killing blow to all other operators as they have mammoth channel capacity of 120 channels. Imgine CBNsat offering the Star Package along with the 25+ premium channels they currently possess. Not even the first DTH provider in south asia (DishTV) can rival Cbnsat in terms of quality. And Sonicnet's DTH platform is the world's most advanced. We all had doubts about theit financial stability when the court hearing was postponed by 1 months. They have the money. They have the tech. So yes, if they want they can virtually kill competition.

Thus there is a good chance they kick off with a blast.

Dear Messed Up Idiot

I am not sure where in the menu to find the settings. But there are entries for LNB Type and teletext PID in the Channel Status screen. LNB: Universal 31
Teletext PID: 0
Hope this is what you are looking for?

Wow! How nice would it be if we get the STAR package. It would be a wonderful, surprise gift for all of us CBNSat customers who patiently waited without jumping to another cable provider. I am sure, CBNSat will give us all something to smile about when they start transmission.

If CBNSat is introducing new channels.. I prefer them to introduce Star World and Ten Sports..

Rupavahini and eye began malfunctioning on CBNsat several days before shut down. At least a day before shutdown, the names TV31 and TV32 appeared instead of rupavahini and channel eye. My point is the change of names did not happen AFTER shutdown.

It's nice to hear that CBN will going to bang.
I'm asking them to give us GODTV
It also a FTA channel

Lightning_Struck_Tower said...

I dont think GODTV idea is a very good one. Religious content = trouble.

Hay Romeah!

Why you say "they will have second thoughts because it is relegious contentent" for GODTV ?
You are talking like relegious contentent is a prohibitad thing. !!

This country needs relegious things now !

you are talking it like a illegal thing.
What a fool !

Lets not start fighting over this. But i have to agree that bringing religious content into CBNsat will be like handing over nuclear weapons to the unethical competition.

I believe GODTV is a christian channel? (i'm a buddhist). Imagine how followers of the other religions will respond if GODTV goes on air? They would want channels of their own religions too. How would you respond if a sensitive islamic channel went aborad on CBNsat? This causes division between subscribers. This causes division and doubt between potential buyers. People in srilanka might even call CBNsat "propoganda machine".

It's an entertainment and infortainment platform guys. Religious content is sensitive.

Everybody is fighting for new channels on CBN but still they are not online...and i wish anybody can publish the status of the discussions with TRC and what is in store for tomorrows court case. After CBN is online we can discuss about what should come in. So can somebody pls update us the situ??

Well just for your info LST, Al Jazeera was available on LBN along with God TV and a Hindu Channel and they have not had any problems regarding the inclusion of those channels.

All cable operators carried FashionTV. But the one that came under fire for destroying culture with it was CBNsat.
I dont have anything against christian channels or islamic channels. My point is that in srilanka, friends of the government are god. This will be my last say on the topic. There is no reason to fight over this matter as CBNsat is still not on air. First priority should be to get it back on air. So no hard feelings.

Guys for god's sake please drop this religious channel issue. If GodTV on board it will leed to another controversy. What we had gone through is enough and all of us suffered a lot. If they telecast GodTV, people will say that now CBN tries to convert people. I'm a buddist and I know that GodTV does not contain such things but people can say. My personal view is not to show any religious channels because it will leed to tons of problems.
Dude I'm sorry brother I cannot agree with you regarding about this matter. LBN shows GodTV and other religious channels except buddist channels and LBN caters to limited subscribers. But If CBN do this, it will be a disaster for them because CBN has more subscribers. It's true that those who doesn't want to have GodTv can be scrabled. As we know that we humans want to watch this channel because of the curiosity. Finally for the safer side please do not encourage them to do this

We are sorry Cable Guy but there is a discussion regarding religious channels and the post in the main page was inserted because of the dicussion that was going on. We are not in a position to remove it and this is not to intended to divide the customers. However our main goal is to get CBNSat back on air and that objective will continue. Jesika who started this discussion has posted on this blog before.

YES ! ALISON, PRMO AND LST IS CORRECT ! CBN SHOULD NOT TRY TO CREATE CONTOVERSIES ON THEIR OWN NOW ! PLAYING SAFE IS THE BEST ! EVENTHOUGH SRI LANKA IS A MULTI RELIGIOUS COUNTRY THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE (75%) ARE BUDDHISTS. SO IF CBNSAT IS TO TRANSMIT RELIGIOUS CHANNELS THEY SHOULD BROADCAST CHANNELS IN 4 DIFFERENT MAIN RELIGIOUS FAITHS. OTHERWISE IT WILL CREATE ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS FOR CBN.

AND GOD TV IS A FREE TO AIR CHANNEL AVAILABLE IN PAS 10 SATELLITE.

SO IF ANYONE IS REALLY INTERESTED IN WATCHING GOD TV THEY COULD DO IT VERY CHEAPLY BY BUYING A FTA RECEIVER AND WATCH IT "FREE" WITHOUT EVEN PAYING A CENT TO ANYONE.

I THINK CBNSAT SHOULD STICK TO THEIR IDENTITY AS A ENTERTAINMENT AND INFOTAINMENT PROVIDER.

HOPE THE MAJORITY WILL AGREE WITH ME !

"Dear Dude and others who want GOD TV"

I don't want to comment on the GOD TV channel anymore and our only hope is that CBNSat doesn't fall into unesessary trouble and controversy in future.

That's it !

Dear Messed up idiot

Did you try "Restore Factory Default". When I messed up my decoder settings, I always do that. This will fill the TP settings. All you have to do is to change the LBN to universal and tune the channels
