The fight has to move into Top Gear

Yesterday was a very disappointing day for the customers of CBNsat and also for the employees and management of CBNsat. But it is time to put all that behind us and to continue our fight for justice.

We have posted below the reports from the Daily News, Island and Daily Mirror regarding yesterdays court case and we are also receiving reports that some of our readers have sent emails to the editors of certain newspapers expressing their frustration over yesterdays court ruling.

We would like someone knowledgeable in law to clarify the meaning of the following statement in the Daily Mirror report which states "Objections are to be filed on or before September 4 and the counter affidavit on or before September 12." The main text of the report is posted below this post.

Like we stated previously the motive of these corrupt people is to bring the company into bankruptcy by dragging this case since they cannot get a verdict against CBNsat. But they can have sleepless night because we will not let them do this nor will we let them get away with this. It is very sad indeed to note that a government which calls themselves the representatives of the people of sri lanka are not giving ear to the grievances of the people in this country. We understand that there are more serious issues in this country, but it makes one wonder how they will solve the more serious issues if they cannot solve a small matter like this.

Our hearts go out to the staff of CBNSat but it is high time they also took some sort of action because these corrupt people who go around making people jobless. Staff of CBNsat it is time to start something to make your voice heard.

We wonder how long this Defence Ministry approval will take but by judging the efficiency of our local authorities it will not surprise us if it is not anytime soon. By the way what is the BOI doing about all this? They should also bear the responsibility of what is happening since they approved the application of CBNsat. We wonder whether the new so called world class taxi service will also be sealed after one year under the allegation of carrying terror suspects. Will 3G be banned after one year? Will CDMA phones be banned?

Does Tv Lanka, Srilakvahini have Defence Ministry approval or are they somehow exempt due to political affliations? They probably are. What is the opposition party doing on behalf of CBNsat customers? Nothing at the moment.

People it is time to fire out in all directions. It is time to take a tougher stance on this issue, please email cbnsat@gmail.com declaring your support for this fight to CBNsat Subscribers Unite, lets encourage them since they have been fighting on your behalf. The CBNsat staff have also got to take action, since they are in danger of loosing their jobs.

Today CBNsat has got a magisterial court hearing which is nothing more than a showcase hearing since the judge in the magisterial court is incapable of making any decisions. We wonder how he became a judge in the first place. Please keep us updated on the indecisive statement made at the magistrates court as the day progresses and any information on CBNsat as the days go by.

I get this feeling that CBNSat is not doing much because they want to close down operation and move out.

Just look at the past..what have they done for more than 2 months?? This entire incident is a joke..even a toddler can understand. But still nothing has happened.

Just compare past incidents such as Tax on TV stations. It was for a good intention(as mentioned by Gov.) but the TV sations were able to change it. They handled the situation accordingly that made an impact. Why can'nt CBNSat??

You cannot be nice for a bunch of jokers...if you try to be nice, ultimately you will look the fool.

Guys we cannot sit back and relax now. We have to act fast. Did our unite group get in touch with CBN and discuss about future proceedings?

Actually 'alf', if CBNSat is planning to pack and leave, I dont blame them. We just have to encourage them to go set up in India and transmit to the current customers. I am sure they can work out a system to charge the customers for service. SO many indian satellite companies are doing that now. At least, we dont have to make a huge investment and can still enjoy the quality satellite TV. As for the poor employees of CBNSat, let them protest and get the govnt to find them employment.

Just Imagine that picture! All the current CBNSat customers viewing at home and yet no MF in the lankan govnt will be able to stop it, because it will not be broadcast from Sri Lanka. This is the easiest way out. No CJ's, HE's Ministers, CID to worry about.

Then again, if that happens, what are these jokers in the govnt going to do?
Put a large roof all over the country to stop the CBNSat reception? OR
Get the Army, police and CID to go house to house search in the whole country and confiscate the decorders and dishes??
We can always hide them!!! And when that happens we can all say "Up Yours my dear hulla, abey and the clan" with sweet revenge.
As we have all learnt from this experience, the people in this country have to find novel ways to excercise their civil liberties, legally or not. After all then we can say that we are just following the ways of our rulers, who never hesitate to do illegal things at the expense of its citizens.

So CBNSat, please hear me out and remove your valuable stuff and go contact Nirupama Rao to help you set up in India. And then do us all a favor(for standing by your side all this time) and give us the transmission from India.

Dear Cableguy!

What a wonderful idea. For the past two months this the most refreshing and the most innovative idea that I came across in this Blogg. (pun intended) :))

I don't agree that CBNSat should leave the country . By saying something like that, we are giving in to these fuckers who wants to shut it down.

Companies using new technologies like CBN should kept in Sr Lanka. If the fucking government doesn't want to improve this country, at least let the privet sector contribute to the economy and any improvements. Plus what about the jobs?, Revenue ?, etc.

Fuck...!! there is nothing on local channels to see. most are crappy "moda Joke" teledramas and worst is that "Ran Depaya" or what ever u call it... Damn.. now other channels have started to show these kind of teledramas.

The problem is that people don't understand that these TV channels produce programs for different audience where a majority will watch it. what about others.

I don't wanna watch "Shaka Laka Baby" I rather watch something like "LOST" or "Amazing Race" or even programs on POGO... Hee Hee

We shouldn't give up.

Fight for our rights. It's not like we are watching PORN ( Well... I wish ... Hee Hee) And CBN can't just leave, then what's gonna happen to the investment made by the CBN customers...? I know ppl who have got the connection on installments.

Only if CBNSat have a mega Press conference.

bank_dude said...

Lisura, over to you buddy. You have contacts with CBN. Please convey the message about the press conference, if and still they are hesitate to do it. If we can act quickly and give a huge bang within the next week, we may be in a position to get MoD feedback on the next hearing day.

Max Payne said...

Hey guys, we are with you, no matter what, what ever it takes, we have to achieve our primary objective. Get CBNsat b4 next hearing.

Don't wast time waiting for the next. As all of you have said, it's going to be another postponement.

I'am giving my full support to any thing. ( I mean anything)

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE > GET CBNsat ON AIR B4 NEXT HEARING

Hush... that's good... should write to all the TV channels regarding this and see how they respond to it.

Some of the channels have tied with CBN if i'm not mistaken.

only TNL TV had the Balls to do it.. I don't know whether CBN paid for it or not. However, the message was passed to a lot via this program.

Alf said...

Why can'nt CBNSat come out and organise a Press conference??

Does the customer unit have to do all the responsible things??

This is never going to end until we all get-together and pressurise the government. "We all - means CBNSat, Customers, Employees and LBN".

This Mr.Nice guy shit is not going to work. What happened for the past two months!! NOTHING!!

We as Customer unite should put pressure on CBNSat to hold a press conference.

I really thought CBNSat was blogging in this forum. I guess I was wrong.

DEAR FELLOW SUBSCRIBERS,

WE ARE SILENT BECAUSE OF SOME REASONS. ACTUALLY I'VE BEEN TO THE VERY FIRST PRESS BRIEFING CBNSAT HAD IN THE TRANSASIA HOTEL ON 09/06/2006 JUST 3 DAYS AFTER THE SHUTDOWN. VIRTUALLY ALL THE MEDIA PARTICIPATED IN THIS BRESS BRIEFING INCLUDING THE STATE MEDIA. BUT WE HAVE SEEN WHO HAD ACTUALLY GIVEN PUBLICITY AND MADE PUBLIC AWARENESS IN THIS CASE.

THE SECOND EXPERIENCE IS WHEN WE SENT OUR PRESS RELEASE TO THE MEDIA WE HAVE SENT IT TO ALL THE MEDIA INSTITUTIONS IN THIS COUNTRY EXCEPT RUPAVAHINI, ITN AND LAKEHOUSE. BUT UNFORTUNATELY ONLY SUNDAY TIMES AND THE NATION GAVE A PUBLICITY.

SO I'M IN THE VIEW THAT EVEN IF WE HOLD A PRESS BRIEFING IT WILL JUST BE A WASTE OF MONEY. AND NOW THAT WE ARE ALL CERTAIN THERE IS A HUGE CONSPIRACY WITH THE STATE ALSO INVOLVED TO SHUT DOWN CBNSAT. THEY THEY CAN'T DO IT LEGALLY AND THAT'S WHY THEY ARE IN THE DELAYING TACTIC.

AND WE KNOW NOW THAT THIS MOD CLEARENCE CAN GO FOR EVER. THERE IS NO DEADLINE TO ISSUE SUCH CLEARENCES AND WE CAN'T EVEN DEMAND IT AT THE COURTS BECAUSE IT'S A NATIONAL SECURITY AFFAIR. THAT'S WHAT EVEN HON. CJ TOLD ON THE 23RD AT THE SC.

WITH THE CURRENT SITUATION WHERE TERRORISM IS ESCALATING IT WILL BE EVEN WORSE. AND IN A SITUATION LIKE THIS WE HAVE TO SUPPORT OUR ARMED FORCES TO DO THEIR PRIMARY JOB THAT IS TO PROTECT OUR MOTHERLAND AND IT'S PEOPLE. WE SHOULD LIVE IN A PEACEFUL SOCIETY EVEN TO LET CBNSAT OPERATE AND EVEN FOR US TO ENJOY OUR LIVES.

SO WITH THIS PREVAILING SITUATION NONE OF OUR NORMAL STRATEGIES WONT WORK. PLEASE DON'T THINK THAT I'M DEMORALISING YOU. BUT WE HAVE TO THINK OF NEW WAYS OF FIGHTING OUR WAR. WE HAVE TO THINK ABOUT THE ROOT WHICH CAUSED ALL THESE PROBLEMS. MY PERSONAL OPINION IS ALL THIS HAD HAPPENED BECAUSE OF THE TERRORISTS. BECAUSE OF THEM ONLY EVEN A TAMIL BUSINESSMAN CAN'T RUN A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS HERE IN COLOMBO.

SO TILL WE ELIMINATE IT WE WILL HAVE THE PROBLEMS CAUSED BY THEM AND EVEN THE CORRUPT PEOPLE IN THE GOVERNMENT WHO WILL MAKE USE OF THE SITUATION TO RUN DOWN THEIR SUCCESSORS. (SIMILAR TO 88-89 ERA WHERE THEN GOVT LINKED PEOPLE THEY DIDN'T LIKE WITH JVP TO KILL THEM)
NOW THE SAME CORRUPT PEOPLE ARE IN THE ARENA AND THEY MAKE USE OF THE SITUATION WHERE THEY CAN LINK ANYONE WITH TERRORISTS TO RUN THEM DOWN.

SO OUR FIGHT FOR FREEDOM SHOULD TAKE NEW AVENUES. THE CONVENTIONAL METHODS WILL NOT WORK DEFINITELY AT THIS TIME. BUT INDEPENDANTLY ANYONE CAN INITIATE ANY ACTION JUST TO KEEP THE MOMENTUM BUT THE RESULTS WILL NOT BE FRUITFUL.

DON'T THINK FOR A MOMENT THAT WE HAVE GIVEN UP. WE WILL NEVER ! BUT OUR ACTIONS HAVE TAKEN A DIFFERENT PATH AND WILL BE NOTIFIED TO YOU IN DUE COURSE MAY BE WITH POSITIVE RESULTS. THERE ARE SOME THINGS WHICH CANNOT BE PUBLISHED IN AN OPEN BLOG LIKE THIS AS IT WILL FALL INTO THE HANDS OF OUR COMMON ENEMY.

SO AS I ALWAYS SAY..........

"TOGETHER WE WILL SEE THE LIGHT"

I am with you guys!! Just let me know!!

Ok Lisura I agree with you. But for the safer side shall we organize a press brefing and tell what exactly going on. We should get few CBN emplyees for this because they are in a position of loosing their jobs for god's sake. Somehow we can forget about Rs.17000 because of national security. But we cannot forget about them. It is very very difficult to find a job these days. I'm always with you guys and let me know if you need anything.

I wonder how long can CBNSat can hold on without getting any income!!

Anybody have any idea about their financial situation at the moment??

Ok fair enough. I agree...

But the way I c it, what ever we or the CBN Management does will anyway stop at MOD.

I say, the President Has to intervene if we are to have some hope. He is the only person I c that can do something to this issue speed up rather

Well the staff of CBNSat can file case regarding the their Jobs and human rights or what ever. don't know how that will work out.

Lisura said...

Fiancial Situation must be very bad because they have paid salaries for 3 months by the end of this month (june, july, August) for 300+ employees without any income. If this goes on like this the companies financial status will be very bad.

Eventually by the time the government issues licences to CBNSat the company will be closed. Don't underestimate the value of the employees of CBNsat. They have actually proffessionals in what they do. They have showed that they are exceptional people during the first year of their operation. I think most of you agree with us. These are the people who delivered the exceptional service to us. Right from the top the CEO to the bottom the technician there are true proffessionals.

And now the whole world know there is nothing wrong in them but the fault lies somewhere else.

Max Payne said...

I agree with u lisura, you have my full support. Yeah, don't publish every thing here. ALL THE BEST

SECONDARY PROTOCOL

cableguy said...

Lisuru.
Agree with your point on the security situation of the country. But as I have asked over and over again, is CBNSat a real threat to security?
I very much doubt it.
Shouldn't the govnt concentrate more on REAL THREATS to the country that you described?
Why create additional trouble(and possibly make them a threat) to over 100,000 citizens, who just want to peacefully sit in their homes and watch some quality TV of their own choice and with their own money?

I understand that the authorities have bigger problems to solve. But this "small" problem was NOT a problem, until the authorities MADE it into a problem.
As a result, now they've got a bunch of irritated and unhappy citizens, who were just peaceful and happy(watching Discovery, Cricket and Fashion TV).

So Lisuru, when you said in your email "WITH THE CURRENT SITUATION WHERE TERRORISM IS ESCALATING IT WILL BE EVEN WORSE. AND IN A SITUATION LIKE THIS WE HAVE TO SUPPORT OUR ARMED FORCES TO DO THEIR PRIMARY JOB THAT IS TO PROTECT OUR MOTHERLAND AND IT'S PEOPLE. WE SHOULD LIVE IN A PEACEFUL SOCIETY"
Isnt that what we were doing until June 6th(and still continue to do)? This issue has nothing to do with our support for the armed forces. The LTTE transmission still continues, even without CBNSat. Only way to stop that is to shoot down the Particular sattelite. This has been proven and cleared. So why should it be a security threat anymore?
Is it Fashion TV? Are they worried that CBNSat subscribers will get horny watching Fashion TV and go on a sexual rampage, threatning the safety of people?

Please, SOMEBODY, enlighten me on how CBNSat is a security threat or a concern, for that matter. Most of these channels are on COMET and is not considered a security threat.

Honestly, this business of govnt(or whoever it is) provoking us by taking away our rights for a peaceful living(which by the way includes watching TV as we desire), and then turning around and saying that we need to support a peaceful living, is making me sick. As a kid would say "you started it!!!" I refer to the authorities, of course.

Honestly, I am very demoralized by this situation, and every time I try to forget about it and move on, it only gets worse.
So Lisuru, could you please at least tell us if these "new avenues" to fight this case is going to be executed soon? Or will it take months and years before we can get our service back. I am asking this question on behalf of a group of 21 current CBNSat customers(who are not blogging or have emails), who want to look into other ways of getting their Cable/Satellite services. As much as we hate to part with CBNSat, there is only so much patients one can have.

Thanks for all that you do and more power to you. Hope to hear from you soon.

I guess that is how things work in our beautiful paradise island.....

No businessman would like to own a enterprise that does not generate any revenue. Therefore, the closure of CBNSat is in the very near future if something is not done very soon.

The MOD clearance will not come out until another election or change of Government comes. There is one option. That is to approach Mr. President himself. We should highlight how many votes he is loosing.

I hope CBNsat employees will do something very effective to get the attention of relevant authorities.

Would also like to know how many are still remining at CBNSat?

At this moment there is very little hope on the Court case as the ball is with MOD now..and Mr. Hulugulla is part of it.

Can't CBNsat obtain some other sort of technology and license till this DTH thing works out.(Like Comet).

or

Can't they get a outsider ideally from Maldives or India to sign a partnership to broadcast using CBNsat transponders and agreements.

Lisura said...

Dear Cable Guy,

Even for a moment i do not think or expressed that CBNSat is a threat to the national security. The actual fact is that it is a threat to the tiger terrorists themself. They just want to keep the people in those areas without any infotainment. They are only allowed to watch LTTE TV channel.

If you can recall in the recent past they burnt down 2 tamil tv stations in Jaffa and Wanni. That's SUN TV and SHAKTHI TV. This clearly shows they will not tolerate any media being transmitted to their region because then the people in those areas will get diverted from the war.

We are in the process of doing certain things which could not be expressed in an open blog like this. it's already been started. But as it is now it will take sometime than we initially thought.

You will get to see the results !

Wish you all the best in yout relentless efforts lisura. Meanwhile, we got to hammer the vested interests behind this. They are robbing the customers. They offer the most basic DishTV package available and it only costs 675 LKR if you pay Online Directly to DishTV.

As a first step, i've thought of a way to reduce SATnet's cash flow. Pay directly to DishTV India. but there is a small problem. So I'm not sure this'll work or not and i need an exsisting SATnet susbcriber to contact me ASAP. (His connection will NOT be affected by any means and his identity will be kept secret.)

If the above suceeds, SATnet subscribers might be able to upgrade the package online via DishTV India web site and get 160 channels for Rs 1000. The channels include Star Package, Sony and One Alliance channels, HBO+Cinemax, A1, Zone Reality and so on.

But i cant promise anything as of now coz i do not have a SATnet connection. So if a SATnet subscriber is reading this please contact me via any one the following email adresses. If any CBNsat subscriber reading this happen to know a SATnet subscriber, pass the news on.

Contact:
filenetworks@gmail.com
noreply.filenetworks@gmail.com
noreply1.filenetworks@gmail.com

Lightning_Struck_Tower said...

I forgot one more thing. If any goon from SATnet is reading my post above, i challenge you to try and bring me down.

Each and every IP trace will be countered with a distributed denial of service attack on source. Welcome to informational warfare.

jesika said...

Lightning_Struck_Tower

Do you know we can buy that Dishtv connection from here with 170 + channels.
I know a guy selling those packages. They registor the connections in india , Take them here & sell.
Many of my friends also got that connection
(Once i told you in a privious blog. But you guys said Satnet will send CID to find them, so i left that idea)

connection fee is Rs 28,000
Rs 4800/= per year

I have to think about this again..
What do u feel?

Lightning_Struck_Tower said...

Jesika, Plase contact us on filenetworks@gmail.com . Your identity, email adress and contact details will be kept confidential.

one more thing, we are not doing this to discourage exsisting CBNsat customers. The main objective is to reduce SATnet's cash flow.

Lightning_Struck_Tower said...

Jesika plz dont post that guy's contact details in this blog. That information can go into wrong hands.

Those of you who need the contact details, i suggest you get it via email.

Ans Jesika contact FILEnetworks via filenetworks@gmail.com ASAP.

Concluding from the replies i got so far from SATnet customers, they are being robbed by SATnet. I'll give you guys more information on this later. We need some clarification for the current information. Please contact uson filenetworks@gmail.com

Thanks.
May SATnet rot in hell.

In this country most of the times playing tough and exposing individuals will certainly be a life risk for CBN Sat shareholders. i think the CBN Sat owners are tamils and like most tamils living in colombo they too must be scared to openly admit there is racial discrimination. If they play tough and disrepute the authorities, hullu balla might possibly frame them as LTTE using his influence in the defence ministry.

jesika said...

Hay How can I trust you. If I give you the contact information of that guy. There will be a risk for him.
